Hi,
I have no idea how but I accidentally mapped the long press function of the search button and have done everything possible but cannot get it to map back to the Google voice search I have used for so long and love. Some people don't like or use this button but I love it. Anyways, I don't know what I did but it is now mapped to compose a SMS msg with GO SMS.

Any idea how to fix this without restoring to default?

Thanks!!

I read your thread over on xda....if the suggestions there did not work I would try the app default app manager ...it will list ALL defaults and give the option to clear

Hey Mr. Ed,

Thanks for the reply. I honestly don't remember if I tried that yet but will give it a try regardless.

Damn, this is weird. As I additionally stated in a thread, this leads to more confusion as to whether or not you can indeed map or disable all buttons. For example, I posted on the volume rocker. I would really like to disable it and have tried absolutely everything. Just curious as to why the folks at Go Launcher were able to easily take control of that search button via their SMS plugin.

BTW, I did try many other things today and still not luck. It is pathetic actually. I spent so many hours with this crap and it really is not worth it. Should be a simple thing!

Thanks,

Clarify for me....are you using root methods to completely remap or did you set a default action?

No...

Yes, I use a number of root tools for everything I have changed. However, one of those things is not mapping of hard buttons. This is what is so strange. That day, I simply received a new SMS and when launching the excellent SMS Pro plug-in, it just changed it the next time I went to use that search button for some info.
