Root HELP! Lost LTE!

Hopefully I'll be able to figure something out soon. I just bought a Tribute because it was on sale at Best Buy but haven't opened it yet. I'm hoping I'll find a way to fix my Volt.
Try manually configuring the APN in the data menu? You'll need your MSL, of course.

I just called them, told them an update was asking for it, and they just gave it to me. I don't think they really care all that much anymore.

That's awesome I'm gonna have to try that.

Has anyone having this issue tried flashing cwm recovery then wiping then flashing zv5 rom?

I would but I'm about 200 miles away from my computer right now. I'll try Sunday, hopefully someone does it before then with success.

Okay - I have been on this for about 5 days now...I FINALLY got my LTE back. What I did...and I have done a lot. Finally after reading around I realized that my recovery was the older version of TWRP. SO I updated that to the lollipop 2.8.5.0 version. I then FORMATTED EVERYTHING except the external sd card. This format with THIS version of TWRP takes MUCH longer than the previous version of TWRP. So there is a difference with that.

I then installed the newest version of CM12 (dated 3/19 I believe).
After that, I booted the system. Let it load up then shut off/restart and THEN installed gapps thru TWRP - NO APN fix.
I then booted back into the phone...logged into my google account.
I then went to playstore and downloaded Change APN. This is where it got interesting.
I started the Change APN applicatoin and for the FIRST time - see two different APN's listed.

APN1 Virgin Internet LTE
APN2 Virgin Internet EHRPD

So I went in and changed them to both be IDENTICAL - I think this is what was throwing ME off. The only things I needed to change were:

Proxy = 0 (number ZERO)
Port = 0 (again number)
I also changed MMSC to = http://mmsc.vmobl.com:8088/mms? (there was something about null at the end of this - I removed it)

BOTH APN's need to be set to the same settings here. Initially set only APN1 and nothing happened. The moment I set APN2 and saved - LTE popped up. viola. :)

I HOPE that I have recounted how I did everything (correctly) and I HOPE that I help someone else get their LTE back. I am currently using mine and am for the most part happy. I am now feeling at least like I can play with my phone once again.

Just tried exactly as you described, but no dice. Every time I opened ChangeAPN it said "Access point name settings are not available for this user."

We can add me to the list of the "lost lte" folks. It's weird because I've flashed the 3/16 update before, and reverted back to zv5, and still had lte. But this time, no dice. Tried all of the methods in all of our threads about how to fix lte, nothing working. Might be something specific with the 3/16 build. I tried fixing with flashing the 3/19, I will try to wipe and flash the 3/16, then fix lte. If that works, I will back up and attempt to go back to zv5 as 4.4 is more stable for the type of use I have. Art runtime seems to be doing weird things to my Ingress game, such as glitchy sound and slow updates.

Has anyone flashed the tot to see if it fixes the lte. Ive used both versions of twrp to restore and try flashing the radio but still no lte and my 3g drops all the time killing my battery.
I have tried pretty much everything under the sun to restore my service, including flashing the TOT file with the flash tool. Nothing has worked.

totalrecarl - did you verify that CM12 was rooted at the time (I know - basic but you never know - don't assume that it was)? You need to go to developer and open up that setting?? I'm just trying to figure out...why all of a sudden I was able to get it back..I really thought making the changes to both of those APN settings did the trick (APN1 and APN2). I'm back on zv5 and it's all good. I've tried to copy the xml file out but it seems that I cannot change it's permissions and access it from windows. :(

Also - just to verify - I was IN CM12 when I was finally able to access the APN's from changeAPN.

Yep, Dev. options/root were enabled. There has never been a time (in the many that I've tried) that I didn't get "Access point name settings are not available for this user."

:( Sorry - I figured I had to ask. In CM12 when I did this, it was the ONLY time I saw the APN's listed 'correctly'. Other times, I saw them listed with that cinet name. (even now in ChangeAPN on my ZV5 rom it's listed with cinet - and I cannot change it from changeAPN. I was surprised when it let me modify it from CM12) I was thinking I discovered something here that would help. I know that I had been very ticked at not having lte. Since this happened to me last week, I've easily blown out my phone at least 10 times trying different scenarios. When it finally worked...I ALMOST couldn't believe it.

I FIXED IT!!!

Ok, here is how. Do all the normal

Flash CM12
Flash Google apps
Boot up
Sign in (google account)
Enable developer options
Enable debugging
Enable installing apps from unknown sources
Enable root
Download change apn
Reboot into recovery
Flash apn fix
Open change apn app
Change port and proxy to 0

*here is the thing that finally worked for me*

change "APN type" to include "hipri" and "admin". On mine, it only showed "default, supl, mms, fota", I looked online for boost apn settings and saw that they had "default, admin, supple, mms, fota, hipri" so I change that, pressed save, and viola! My LTE kicked in within a few seconds.

Praise the Lord.

Can anyone tell me why ChangeAPN never works for me? Every time I open it it just says: "Access point name settings are not available for this user."

Are you on Android 4.4 (zv5)? You need to flash a CM12 Rom then boot up then flash the APN fix for your service (boost or Virgin), then install Change apn app. Android 4.4 doesn't let apps change the apn.

I'm in CM12. I get that message each time I've tried this.

You may want to try reverting back to stock zv3 via LG flashtool then. I had that message a couple of times when relying on just a wipe before upgrading to CM12.

Also make sure you flash the 3/16 CM12, not 100 percent sure, but it seems to have worked better for changing apn than the other versions.

Also, how are you flashing the apn fix? I have only had success flashing it in recovery with TWRP. Flashing it with Flashify didn't work for me. (even if it rebooted into recovery to flash, just worked better when I booted into recovery and flashed it there myself)

I have always flashed the APN fix in TWRP. Quick question, would editing and saving my 'apns-conf.xml' in /etc directly possibly work? Isn't that the file that ChangeAPN modifies anyway?

The APN fix also edits some stuff in the build.prop which can't be edited while phone is on and running android.

If it's just an apn thing, yeah, changing the apn manually might work, I couldn't get the changes to stay though. Each time I changed the port and proxy to 0 instead of null, the null would pop back up until I did it the change apn method.
