Help me understand!

Lurker
I'm a month or two in to owning my first smartphone.
It's the Motorola Razr Maxx HD. It seems like maybe the battery
is draining a little faster than it was a few weeks ago, so I started
looking at the (screenshot) battery info. All it has done
is make me more confused.
Is it telling me my phone is charged at 97% with only two hours
and forty minutes left on the battery? If that is what it means,
it's obviously wrong. Am I reading it wrong? If so, what is it telling me?
What looks right or wrong to you? Any and all replies are much appreciated!
:)

When it says a certain time on battery, that means how long it's been off the charger from full charge :)

Everything looks good and not too high there btw

correct me if i am wrong, but isn't 'phone idle' just the percentage of time with the screen off? i would think that a high 'cell standby' is more an issue. if i have airplane mode on, which i do when i'm near a wifi (i use Google Voice/GrooveIP Lite to call and give folks my GVoice number anyway and it also works over cellular) the only item in the list besides 'wifi' (which uses 15%) and 'screen' (which uses 25-40% depending on use) is 'phone idle' which by my calculations is the time it has been in standby in my pocket. the 'cell standby' only shows up (and being CDMA, is a heavy battery consumer as i only get one or less bars in town) if i use the cellular radio.

Either way i get a good 14+ hours of battery which beats my 6-hour ZTE Merit (now retired) by a longshot under the same conditions

Yeah phone idle is when the phone is sleeping without any wake locks in place, otherwise deep sleeping.

Cell stand by, I could be wrong, measures how long you've been making calls via the cell towers. I could be wrong but that's what makes sense to me at the very moment. Could change in 5 minutes :p

See my cell stand by is at 3%, I've made only 2 calls since unplugged this morning. That's what makes me think it measures phone calls via towers

Had the RAZR and hated it. Battery sucked. I am constantly on my phone for work, and I always had to be standing next to a power jack with that thing. Good luck with yuors though.

Really? I've heard the RAZR line had the best battery life amongst most of android devices now a days.

I've never owned a RAZR device so I wouldn't know :)

Cell Standby is what percentage of the battery the radio has taken up, regardless of how many calls you've made. If you're in a bad signal area, that will shoot up dramatically.

Calls on mine show up as Voice Calls :)

yeah my 'cell standby' is about 40-50% if i leave the 3G radio on, or just the cellular with data off. similar to 'phone idle' but it accounts for time in standby or use with radio on.

i would be concerned though Dragon about your 'android system' being around ~15% or more. i read that is a bit high...

Thanks for all the additional info gents. I'm really liking the Maxx HD so far.
It being my first smartphone, I have nothing to compare it against really.
I have read quite a few times that the big selling point of the Maxx HD
was battery life, and it does seem really good.
Although, I have a desk job and can leave it plugged into the PC USB
most of the day as well. Salute!

I just checked my MAXX HD and with 14h 52m 26s there is still 82% left. That is with 4G, WIFI, GPS always on and screen brightness set to 80%. Love this phone!

My phone left work today with 93% remaining with GPS, Wi-Fi and screen set at 10%. But i am running CyanogenMod, too. Gingerbread ain't nowhere near that efficient stock! Same use with stock gave me around 37-50% after a normal 9 hour work day
