I was having the same issues as everyone here. I had the screen set to minimum, had WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth off. I was still only getting 10-11 hours a day... with 25 minutes total talk time, and about 5-10 minutes browsing the web. I found out what was draining the battery so quickly, though...
Even though I would disable AutoSync through the Power Management widget, it still leaves "Background Data Transfers" on. At first, I thought it was The Weather Channel app that was raining my battery so quickly, so I disabled that. I tested it again, and used Advanced Task Killer to find out which app was responsible. Unfortunately, it seems like Gmail and the Gmail calendar are constantly syncing while the user is AFK. That's why my 25 minute phone call, 10 minutes of browsing, and 4 hours of AFK left me with a 40% battery. At hour 10-11, it would die.
I disabled this last night, and left my IM client on. The results? I woke up in the morning - 6.5 hours after I unplugged it - with a 90% battery. I just hit the Auto-Sync button on the widget again, and got my e-mails within a few seconds.
It kind of sucks, because the Gmail app does not give you an option of the frequency at which it syncs. Maybe this will be updated soon.
