Help HELP PLEASE: EVO 4G Reboot Loop, Different from others (I understand the basics)

Sensei00S

Lurker
Hi I'm new here.
I don't even remember how this EVO Started looping, but it was NOT rooted (To my knowledge and right now it's S-ON)
I can access HBOOT but thats it/
I've looked through tons of threads and have tried the following:
Like 5 different PC36IMG.zip files (one directly from a AMON RA post directly) with these it says that error message like(might not be exact):
SD Checking
Loading PC36DIAG.zip
No Image!
Loading PC36DIAG.mbh
No Image!
Loading PC36IMG.zip

Then it goes to another page just saying
Loading PC36IMG.zip

and then goes to the normal HBOOT window, no ask to install or nothing and I've formatted the cards various times, got another card, same thing formatted it, no luck.

I also got 3 versions of the RUU: RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed.exe
RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.exe
RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe

It will pick up the phone and always just stick at the part where it reboots the phone to the black background and silver HTC logo (Its not too far in, I don't think)

I even downloaded AndroidFlasher and tried to flash the files from PCIMG36.zip (or whatever it was, I was using a guide) and that also failed.
My info for the phone is:
Supersonic EVT2-3 Ship S-ON
HBOOT-2.16.0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.0808
Mar 8 2011, 17:02:15

PLEASE HELP ME :crying::crying::crying:
If you know ANYTHING please post ASAP, I'll be constantly checking the thread.

the no image or wrong image is normal. your bootloader is programmed to search for a specific file called PC36IMG and if it does not find it, it will give you that response.

  1. so lets try this instead of the ruu use this:
    PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed
  2. delete everything in the name except for PC36IMG. move the file over to the sd card. since you can't boot up, you will need to do this with a card reader. or if you can figure out a way to transfer the file over to the card.
  3. you need to put the file, just on the card. no folders.
  4. next go back to the bootloader. pull the battery out and press and hold power+vol down
  5. if you named it correctly and you have it just on the card (root) no folders, it should ask you to update. select yes and then reboot

Didn't work
SD Checking....
Loading.......PC36DIAG.zip
No Image!
Loading.......PC36DIAG.nbh
No image or wrong image
Loading PC36IMG.zip.......

Goes to another page saying
Checking PC36IMG.zip.......

Then goes to the normal menu no prompt to install :( same thing the others did :( what now?

did you make sure to delete the other PC36IMG file? did you name it correctly?

also windows 7 hides extension by default. make sure not add an extra .zip to the name. or if you have it set up to show extensions then you will need to make sure that you have the .zip to the file name.

try it one more time making sure that you have named it correctly and that you have it on the root of the sd card (no folders).

if that does not work then lets try this PC36IMG file:
PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.67.651.3_Radio_2.15.00.12.19_NV_2.33_release_234563_signed

So I got the phone to boot by putting it and the batter in the freezer. I now remember reading other people doing this, and my battery did used to overheat. So I rooted it while it was in the freezer (lol) to see what I can accomplish, but it still loops once the battery warms up or becomes room temperature. I'll try to flash it with the other PC36IMG you gave, but I think it's a hardware issue :( thanks. If you have any other ideas lmk.

I answered you in the other forum.

Please do not put your phone in the freezer, ever.

Well I had put it in the freezer before, so I didn't know it was a problem. I have a 1GB card that I'm using. I also have an 8gb card available. I rooted the phone with revolution, but it was still bootlooping. After rooting the phone it finally booted PC36IMG and installed it, but the phone seemed no different afterwards and still displayed revolution at the top of hboot. Now it won't charge or boot (I think the battery is dead and idk why it isnt charging :/ ) I've basically given up hope now.

Also the phone did boot after it and its battery were in the freezer, the phone would only boot successfully then and mostly only stayed on while it was cold.

This is a long shot but, perhaps when phone/battery are cold, the battery contacts make better contact.....and when it warms up, the contacts pull away ever so slightly making the phone go dead/not charge.
Also, have you tried your 8mb card in phone, then flashing the pc36img?

The battery is ok to put in the freezer only for a few minutes. Putting a phone in the freezer could destroy it.

The 1GB card is one reason you are having issues. Use the 8GB card instead. Trust me, I've had issues with anything less than 8GB as well as many other people who have used the smaller cards

Idk Ive tried putting the battery in the freezer again and it still wont charge. Also before the PC36IMG was not working at all so I haven't tried it with the 8GB yet, if the phone starts working I will. I remember the PC36IMG I got from here flashed it successfully, then it asked to reboot, I clicked yes and then it started bootlooping again and I couldnt get it to boot even in the freezer, but I could still access HBOOT that was the last time it was turning on.

Just for the record it never had probs charging before, it just couldn't boot.

I'm wondering if I had an external way to charge the battery would the phone work. I'm kinda worried I broke it somehow :/
