Root help please evo root 2.2

trying to finish rooting my phone but i can't i'm just a step away
when i get to
#./flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img it says no such file or directory
can anyone help me, i don't seen to find an anwer and been trying to root for the last 3 hours, thanks guys

Just to make sure, you are not typing the pounds sign right? It should be your prompt instead of the $sign other than that check the root off your sd card when you used the adb push maybe it do didnt get pushed on the card.
 
"no such file or directory" means that the filename is missing or spelled wrong. If the OP had actually included the prompt sign with the ./ I believe the error would have been something like "permission denied."

So yeah, the OP should redo the adb push command to make sure the file gets copied to the proper location.
 
thanks guys for the responds, mm now it says permission denied when i do flash_image, so i turn off the off and turn it back on, i hope it works
 
Any way to root 2.2 without losing data? I just set up my phone the way I want it but would like to root it to get rid of Sprint bloatware.
 
What Root tutorial are you following? Because I had the same error..and had to look around for some help. Finally got the commands to work.

btw guys i was able to do it i had to start from begining got everything set up now, i just need to get some good rooted apps, please advice my other root phone was the samsung moment so i'm a newbie at this lol


and for the othe poster i was using this root method coming from 2.2 froyo
