I put some photos on my desire z using the USB cable but my phone wont allow me to view them without a wifi signal, please can someone tell how to view them without WiFi or using a free app

If the photos are on your memory card then wifi has nothing to do with it - they should appear in the Gallery app.
Can you tell us exactly what error message (if any) you are seeing? Where did you copy the photos to?
