Root Help Rooting Evo 4g Please

so ive looked at multiple rooting threads. nothing has fixed my problem . im trying to unlock the bootloader. it doesnt work. when i try to fast boot it doesnt do it. at the screen after a hold volume down and power button it shows

anyone know what the issue could be? help please
 
yep follow the guide linked by evojake. basically you will need to go to the HTCdev site and unlock your bootloader. you do not have to follow the captains guide if you do not want to. you can proceed down to the second post to get a recovery and you will then be able to flash a rom and such.
 
Yes ive tried that multiple times .. the thing is that I cant unlock the boot loader. I dont know why its not working . So nothing that shows on the screen seems to be wrong ?

did you follow the steps on the HTCdev site? what happens? did you setup the android folder with the right files?
 
you have to follow the htcdev.com instructions exactly, and I know at times they can get a little vague. could you possibly have the wrong files in the android folder? I know the first time I unzipped the sdk files, I did it wrong, so I re did the unzip and moved the "new" files into the folder..worked like a charm. Also, did you install the usb drivers on your compuer? that was another step that hung me up for a minute.
