I haven't rooted the X (yet) myself, but have read through the instructions and watched the video and it looks fairly straightforward.

Maybe post a specific issue in the above thread or in the http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid-x/130116-how-root-your-droid-x.html thread and someone might also have run into the same problem and solved it? Good luck!
