Root help seeing ad-hoc

been looking for awhile. i cant find how to get my motion to see my laptops ad-hoc network

need a new router. so until i get one i have to hook my computer and phone up this way

ya im trying to share my connection through wifi from my laptop. the only way to do that is ad-hoc. u know another way please tell me.

ah ok gotcha. Unfortunately not and ad-hoc doesnt seem to play nice at all on android even when the device supports it.

what os because there are similar things for XP, and mac there's something to do with removing a network password from what I remember, not sure about ubuntu though.

search windows xp access point software on google, that should get you headed in the right direction.

Well I just pulled out the old desktop with XP and used the 3rd search result to create an access point, which worked for my motion, my wifes admire 4g, and my Iconia tab connected all at the same time.

I am curios about this also
Except i have a different situation
I have a laptop running win xp sp3
I added an external antenae to to the internal wifi card
Often my laptop gets wifi and my phones dont
I need to get wifi from the source with my laptops internal wifi and share it with my phones through a usb wifi adapter
Basically a wifi repeater
none of the software works for me .not rven the virtual access point
Has anybody here done this before?
I may have to upgrade to win 7 but not sure if i can find all the drivers for my old laptop
