Howdy.

At this point, you just need to flash a custom recovery, and then superuser. Everything you need should be in the 2.3.5 rooting guide.

EDIT: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=488901

You need step 2 under the HTCDev method on installing a recovery.

As Captn posted above me, unlocking the bootloader is only the first step of the process. Follow the guide that he linked you to finish.

ok i did a nandroid backup got it rooted and su then zzwiped it and added a custom rom. I didnt like it so i went back to stock my 1st question is how do I completely lock stock and un root for warranty reasons and my 2nd question is which rom do I choose there are so many out there I just want one thats stable and looks cool, reliable, no bloatware...

thanks for everyones help!

To truly get the phone unlocked will require a little work. You'll need to use the Cap'ns root guide to get full s-off with the 2.10 hboot then use Unrevoked method of unrooting.
I don't believe there is a method to unroot the new hboot and get rid of the watermark.

The only way to unroot and get rid of the watermark that HTC put on the device is to downgrade the H-boot. I'm not sure if you have to fully get S-oFF first and then unroot to get S-ON or if downgrading effectively does that, as I have not had to use this rooting method

Allow me to assist here :).

To unroot HTC's unlocked bootloader so that it shows "LOCKED (OOW)" at the top rather than "RELOCKED", you have to follow my guide up to the part of downgrading the misc partition. At that point, the watermark should change back to "LOCKED". The last step is to either run the latest 4.67 RUU, or flash the PC36IMG for that ROM in the bootloader. Alternatively, the 4.54 Gingerbread ROM (or older) can be used, but that's essentially the last step either way (flash a stock ROM).

Since the bootloader will already be unlocked, a custom recovery installed and the device likely already rooted, the process should be pretty straightforward.

Thanks Cap'n, I never did the process and although I've read it, I'm still not 100% on all all levels. :)

So just to clarify, once the misc partition is updated, you can flash either the 2.10 hboot ruu, or any subsequent hboot ruu to acquire that hboot?
I just want to make sure I understand a little more so i don't give wrong info or advice. :)

As always thanks Cap'n!

I never got the watermark I used HTCdev and it unlocked it then I followed the revised guide and put the su on the sdcard did nand backup and wiped all my cache then I flashed the Mikg rom @
MikG v3.11 [3/9/2012]

It works great and its still says S=ON

Thanx Mik

Thanks captn...

You da man, I never used that method so I have no clue about the smaller details like that.

But your bootloader still says UNLOCKED. That is the watermark that automatically voids your warranty, regaurdless of the status if S is ON or OFF.

ok so I woke up this morning and the battery was drained completely and I have the ext battery for double life and this all started happening after I started using setcpu, flashed a custom kernel Aggresive lionfish 1.6 well that just loked up everything no touch no buttons. So I did nandroid restore and we were back to stock kernel. but m battery was at 90% before bed and dead when i woke up 7 hours later. Any ideas? thanks in advance!

What are your set cpu settings?. Try anthrax or the original aggressive freedom line the lionfish is still fairly new.Sent from my EVO 4G using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
