Okay people's, here's the deal. Do we really want TDM to sell his spectrum and loose all future development and work? Hmmm..... It is a tough question, but let me say Hell No! lol. You probably have seen this is the other thread, where he says he needs to sell his Spec. I am not gonna let that happen so I'm gonna create a fund in order for him to keep his Spectrum and continue development...on your own terms that is TDM. I dont have all the details now, but will post them once they are available.

I'm in for $10 as soon as Wednesday when I can get to the bank to cash my paycheck.
I know that the use of wireless tethering has been locked down by VomitRizen for everyone that is still holding out with the grandfathered unlimited data, and want's to use ICS, with my 3 simple phones and my 2 smartphones, they would screw me out of $65.00 a month more then I can afford for 4GB.
I would have to wait till March to drop one of my lines before I could afford to switch to a plan that would allow me to tether again.
I will still make use of my Spectrum as a WiFi device but I will probably re- activate one of my old DInc2's for a primary line that will still allow the tethering.
It is a crying shame that a monster corp. like VomitRizen can be allowed to racketeer data like a privileged commodity and shove voice and text down our throat just because the App Hole group needs to stream the pads and pods...

I have a Spectrum with a blacklisted ESN and no SIM. I was using this on Sprint/VM but I never got 3G data working, only 1X. I've heard rumors that it isn't even possible to make 3G work in such a case but I don't know. But I am pretty sick of Sprint service and CDMA in general, so I plan to move to GSM with either the Nitro or N4 within a month or so (Mrs. Santa may be dropping an N4 under the tree, we'll see...)
I am willing to try to get data working on CM9/CM10 on the Spectrum, but in order to do that, I'll need a fully working device with a data plan. That means either (1) someone either ships me their phone for a couple weeks, or (2) someone gives me their programming info and somehow I get a SIM card.
I'm guessing the easiest way to make this happen is to buy a month of prepaid service. But I don't know the details of how a SIM is procured.
Note that since I'll be going GSM, I will have my own SIM card soon. But it won't be VZW and so that may or may not work. We'll see.
Bottom line: if you guys want CM9/CM10 with data service, find a way to get me setup for a month and I'll try to make it happen. No promises but I'll give it my best shot.
Oh, and if I'm successful, I'll publish the source changes, of course. That means one of the other devs could pick up the ball and keep it rolling for CM10, CM10.1, AOKP, etc.

Can someone look into how the prepaid service@big red works and post back? I mean is it possible to just get it for a month? Since its prepaid I would assume so but would rather be entirely sure. Tdm can you set up a Chipin.com fundraiser? If you want I can set it up and transfer the funds to you...whatever works. It uses Paypal but allows others to see how much has been donated and this is the site we have used in previous donations.

Ok, so here is the info I can find so far. We can not do pre-paid service as only 3G and under phones (aka no LTE card) qualify under VZW. You can add a line to your account and just request the LTE card. This is the same as buying a phone at full price and having it added to your account. Because you're not taking a subsidy, there should be no ETA fee. This would need to be confirmed while at VZW as their website is crap. What's worse, is that I can not find any plans other then the "share everything" on their website, so I can't give you any hard info on pricing other then $100 per month for basic share everything.

Not if I can "borrow" a good one.
The whole cdma system needs to be reprogrammed to get back to Verizon, I've got it setup for Sprint/VM at the moment. Changing the ESN is just a small part of that.

I would assume it only needs to be from a phone that does LTE. But I have no experience with either Verizon or LTE.
Well, lets get a chipin/paypal account set up then. Even at $100 for one month, it wouldn't be horrible. $10 a person x 10 people and I have to imagine that in store they can offer you something other then the share all plan. Having a single phone on that plan just isn't worth the cost.

I've got you covered on a spec ESN, I use my Gnex and never use my spec so you'll be okay period.

What you could do is check craigslist or some other place for a good esn spectrum, buy that one then activate it on the vzw network. It shouldn't be hard to find and I'm sure there would be people willing to chip in and help with the cost

I saw a cracked screen spectrum on ebay recently. It's not there any more, but you could find that and swap screens. Or if you're in to a little ESN voodoo, just use the ESN off a trashed LTE phone from Ebay.
