Root Help unrooting- s-on tool throwing error

I'm having some major issues with my Incredible. It's been problematic since day 1, but even after returning just to a stock root, I'm now dealing with a faulty charging port and the phone shorts out when I plug it in to charge it at least half of the time. While I doubt they're going to check, I need to go back to s-on before taking it in. I've downloaded the latest s-on tool, but when I try to install it, I get e:/ errors:

e:unsupported radio version
e:update failed. check /sdcard/soff.log
ed:error in /sdcard/unrevoked-forever-son(2).zip
(status 42)
installation aborted.

When I pull up the /sdcard/soff.log, it says:

unrEVOked forever S-OFF patch v1.3

Verifying system type...
.
.
Got device:
@PID: 69,"INCREDIBLE_C"
Got radio version:
2.15.10.07.07
E:unsupported radio version
E:Update failed. Check /sdcard/soff.log.

So... It looks like I have an incompatible radio version? I have no idea how that would've happened, or how to fix it. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me, since Sundays are my only days I'm available to go by a store.

The radio included with gingerbread is not compatible with that tool, so first you will need to flash the froyo radio found here:
Radios | PvilleComp's
in hboot (not recovery). Your SD card has to be formatted to FAT32 and the file has to be on the root of your sd card.

Once you have the radio flashed successfully, you will be able to flash the s-on tool in recovery, then you can proceed with the unrooting instructions found here.

+1^^

We have been wondering if this would become a problem. The "Return To Stock" thread has been edited with the new instructions to bypass the radio incompatibility issue. Thanks to sdrawkcab for pointing this potential problem out originally.
