I recently had my evo rooted by a buddy of mine. Its been working great, but one problem, i was trying a few different boot animations and every thing was working great till this afternoon when i guess one was bad. Now when the phone boots up it goes to the white evo splash screen then just goes to a black screen and stays like that. I have no clue what to do. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. i just need to find a way to get my phone to turn on then i will delete the boot animation that is causing this issue.

what rom are you on? did you make a nandroid backup? if so you can always restore it. if not you can then wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the same rom you are on now. this will not delete data.
to be honest with you im not sure about the backup. when i click recovery it flashes the HTC EVO logo. This is what i get when i turn i on and hold vol down.......if it means anything.

the no image is normal. but in that menu can you get to recovery? there should be an option for it. what happens when you select it? the htc logo is normal as well. does it sit on that logo and nothing else?

do you have a card reader? if so you can try and get amon ra 2.3 recovery onto your sd card and then have the bootloader install it for you. once you have a recovery that works then you can get your phone back up and running.

no worries. the amon ra file can be found in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html under the switching recoveries section.
do whatever you need to get the file onto the card. also make sure you follow directions in the guide to get you amon ra. make sure that you name it correctly and that you put it on the sd card and not in any folders.
but what i mean is can i put it on card#2 since card#1 isnt registering on my laptop? so that i can put it on the card do what it has to then put my card in when i get it up and running.

do not extract it. and yes you can switch the cards out. just make sure that you are not using a 2g card.
and what is happening? did you name it correctly? is it on the root of the card? and not in any folders?
if you had a card reader then yes. or if you know of someone who has another evo or even another phone that can use the card and transfer files over to it would work as well.
well my wife has an evo as well so im going to try to download it to her phone and see what i can do. For some reason my laptop is not reading both of our 8g cards, only the 2g smh. i will use her file explorer and see if i can rename and move it to the sd card and once i do that i should put her card into my phone and boot it right?

did you rename the file? it needs to be PC36IMG exactly. do not add an extra zip as windows by default hides extensions. also is it on the root of the sd card? do you have it in a folder? or just on the card?
