Root Help with Mail Client

Hmmm...I am not sure. If its a system app, then I would tend to say no.
If its a user app, then perhaps yes.
I guess it would depend somewhat, if both roms are odexed or de-odexed.
Sorry if I dont have a better answer, but I am sure someone more knowledgeable than I can help you:)

I like the mail client that comes with the Energy ROM, but I'm wanting to use it in a different ROM. I'm not sure what determines this mail client being there, is it the Android version, Sense version or what? How could I go about adding this particular mail client to the DigitalKarma v8 Reincarnation ROM?

Thanks.

I've tried, but never had success in moving the mail client from rom to rom and system apps can cause issues if you try to move them. I have a heavy need for a exchange mail app that closly mirrors the actual office version. The best stock mail client I've found is on the ICS/JB roms but that doesn't help since I prefer the current Deck's offering. My suggestion is to give the Touchdown mail app a try if you 're using an exchange mail service(you didn't say). It comes the closest to the actual office version than anything I've found. I'll add that it comes with a 30 day trail, but I liked it so well I paid for the upgrade after the trail was done.

Ok, thanks. So out of curiosity, you are saying it's the Android version that determines what mail client comes stock?

have you tried using titanium backup to back the email client and the restore it on your current rom? it might or might not work. just a thought.

I would think it should work as long as it doesn't require hwa such as 4.0 or above. I have moved system apps from rom to rom with no problems before with titanium as well as saving the apk. To my SD and sideloading it later. Just try it out and let us know if it works. Most apps from gingerbread are compatible with the roms from before it.
