Root Help with Nandroid

Ok so im new to this stuff, but i flashed a new ROM on my G2 and after backiong my apps with titanium backup i still don't have all my contacts or sms.

before flashing i did a nandroid backup on my stock rom.

can i restore my nandroid to get my old contacts straight from this custom ROM? or do i need to odin back to stock and then do the nandroid restore?

im planning on doing a nandroid and exporting my contacts to SD card and then reflashing my ROM (cyangenmod7) and importing the contacts from there.

Contacts should be backed up to your Gmail account, they should come back after a sync. Mms are gone unless you go back to your backup.

alright thanks, but would i be able to nandroid over my new rom? or do i need to odin to stock before doing my nandroid restore?

Odin won't work on a G2. You can restore your nandroid and it will come back just the way it was when you created the nandroid (rom, contacts, sms).
