Root Help with rooted samsung stellar

OK I'm not new to android, but new to roots... last night I deleted my stock messaging app, I like handcent because all the girls use emoji now a days, but i found out how to get a emoji font on my phone, can some one PLEASE help me get my stock messaging back :/
 
OK guys I'm going go go crazy, I delted my stock messaging on my samsung galaxy stellar... I need help how do I get it back... I had it backed up it wouldn't install I did some dumb stuff now its not anywhere... help me please :(
 
Hi KirkwoodLucas, and welcome to AF :)

If you can find a custom ROM for your phone with the stock Samsung message app you could unzip that and install the apk (will be in system/app).

Probably someone with the same device could help, so maybe ask in your phone's All Things Root forum. I'd move the thread but am using a Tapatalk to post this while walking.
 
See I'm new to rooting, and I have no idea how to ROM what it means where to go... I should have did more reading before I started playing lol

Do I need to do this with a file manger or on the computer

Ok dumb ol' me deleted my stock mms app (samsung stellar) and I been using a ics mod mms, but it looks buggy sometimes and really bothers me, I know roms give you mms apps right? can someone give me a good stock, or moded mms app? please and thank you (::smokingsomb:
 
I assume you are rooted? Are you on a custom rom? Can you re-download your rom for your device, pull the mms.apk out of the .zip, move it to your /system/app, set permissions, then reboot.?

yes i just rooted,and tbh i want to be on a rom i just have no idea how to do it my thread keeps getting moved and no ones on there, and i cant find a rom for my device...
 
If progsters suggestion in post 6 didn't work, did you try to use ES file explorer to move the apk and odex to /system/app?

The other option is 1 of 2 things:
Download the rom I linked, pull the mms apk and odex out of that rom .zip (after you extract the .zip file) then move them with ES File Explorer to the /system/app, set permissions and reboot....or....
Download the rom and flash it.



Edit: just remember to make a nandroid backup..done in recovery.
How familiar are you with doing that and flashing roms?
