Root Help with SuperUser

AGAV13

Newbie
Just rooted and after i dl'd su it told me there was a new binary and tried to install automatically but failed, it downloaded a file what do i do now?

there is a fixed up SU from the desire Z guys. follow the link in this thread: Working Superuser for TB Sense - xda-developers

it will take you to a desire Z post, but download and flash that SU.

what firware are you on at the end of your mac root? i thot the new SU was being inlcuded in all the custom roms, and inthe upgrade ruu.

unless you are having some other issue...

wow, looks like the mac guides are really old, lol. the one he linked was put up on july 20,but it was prolly kanged from an old guide. the xda mac guide was posted march 28

at the end you need to manually set up superuser, then download the app from the market, and then flash clockwork from rom manager. i thnk this is from the original guide, not a mac version of the "even easier and safer" guide.

be forwarned,if youre on 1.12.605.6 firmware, dont take an OTAs! :p

youll need to flash the rooted mr2 rom from xda,and i think you could have saved yourself some headache by using the "upgrade RUU" from jcases xda thread instead of the one that was used in the guide you just followed.

yes, but now while tring to flash the rooted stock rom i have trouble installing from clockwork it keeps saying installation aborted

You may need to update clockworkmod recovery, scotty should chime in and prove me wrong in a few mins, if you downloaded rom manager did you flash the most recent version of clockwork?

Don't panic. You need to flash the radio in hboot. Rename the radio PG05IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card. Power the phone off and power on while holding volume down. It should go to hboot and scan the SD then say press up to update. do so then reboot when it prompts you to and you should have signal. It sounds like the rom took

im not sure what the rom flash error did but i am back to stock rom and i dont know if i have root access anymore and cant access market place to re-dl the superuser and clockwork app. i think i am just going to revert to stock non rooted if possible. thanks for th ehelp

IMO,that would be silly, and a huge waste of the time it took you to root. what is your current firmware# in about phone?

edit: the rooted OTA rom will be firmware 1.70.605.0 and it will look just like the stock rom. if your firmware# is 1.12.605.6 or 1.12.605.9,then youre on the "upgrade ruu" still

i agree,it sounds to me like the rom flashed fine and you just need to flash the radios in hboot

Can you reboot into clockwork, if so if you made a nandroid backup you should be able to restore it and you should have access for your radios again. There are threads at XDA on how to restore to stock if you really want to do so, I am actually getting offline for a while (gotta drive home). I think you would have an easier time restoring a backup and then flashing the radio and rom again, I would not suggest downloading anything via rom manager.

ok,so you have flashed the radios correctly in hboot, and the rom flash didnt work. go to the sticky thread(http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/353591-how-some-root-terminology.html ) for more info on rom flashing.

in a nutshell:
-verify md5 sum of the download you flashed
-go to recovery
-wide data
-wipe cache
-under advanced wipe dalvik cache
-flash the rom from sd card

when its done reboot and youll have signal and be good to go :)
