my EVO is rooted.i downloaded the the new firmware update for my rooted phone.can someone please tell me how to install it ? is there a video available on how to do this ? do i download the firmware in my phone or on the computer ? PLEASE HELP.....

There is a new firmware update? More details please. There has yet to be a firmware update since release. Are you referencing the latest HTC software update that came out a few weeks ago? Where did you get this update?

You probably should hold up on downloading any OTA updates until you know if it will break your phone or not (most likely, it isn't a good idea if your phone is rooted).

It would be best to update the ROM you are using with a version that is based of the latest OTA.

ok i downloaded a rooted version of the ota called supersonic 3.70.651.1
deodexed.i downloaded it into my computer and also into my phone.i cannot figure out how to install it.i really need to do this update because of the bluetooth problems i've been having with my EVO from the very first day of use,and this update fixes that problem.

1) What is your hboot version?
2) What is your current SW version
3) What is your current baseband radio version?

The last two can be found in menu->settings->about phone->software information. What you're flashing is basically a stock rom of the latest HTC update (not firmware update), and is definitely the right way to do it. I just want to know your current setup so that you do it right.

yes you are correct i am trying to do the HTC update,which i do need very badly.my current software ( 3.29.651.5 ) and baseband ( 2.15.00.09.01 ) not to sure about hboot.anway i also downloaded a file to my computer called ( PC36IMG.ZIP ) the instructions says to copy to the root of the SD card.how do you do that ? thank you for your help so far...

What PC36IMG did you download? That can mean almost anything. I can give you instructions for a few different methods. Can you give me a link for what you were looking at?

There is NO FIRMWARE UPDATE ISSUED BY SPRINT FOR ROOTED PHONES!!

NEVER install ANY OTA update on your phone when you are rooted!!!
