Little more info what version you on like froyo or GB and any errors?

First, welcome to the AndroidForums .

Second, I've moved your thread to the all-things-root sub-forum for the Droid X.

Let us know about your version of Android as cookie_monster inquired (if you are already GB, you cannot use any of the typical rooting apps since they will only work on Froyo). There are alternatives to getting you root, however, but we'll wait until we hear back from you.

its called visionary, i used it to root a few times, you should try it if you want.

I am running 2.3.3 droid x thanks for the quick responses I have been trying for days uh

looked for 1click root on the market not there did as you said and restarted the phone after z4 download still wont root

squarework, the 1-click rooters like Z4root will not work (at this time) on 2.3 Gingerbread. It only works for the Droid X on 2.2 (Froyo).

To get root on Gingerbread is a little more involved...all of the steps are outlined and detailed in this stickied thread:
