Root Help!

My husband's EVO 4G is stuck in bootloop mode. I have tried everything suggested. I can get into recovery, but it tells me that it cannot find the cache/recovery logs. I wiped the cache, but have not reset the phone. I am reluctant to do a factory reset since he has tons of texts that he would like to save. Is this possible? I saved the SD card contents to our computer.

The stats on his phone are:

Locked
Supersonic EVT2-3 Ship S-on
Hboot 2.18.0001
Microp - 041f
Touch Panel ATMEL224_16ab
Radio - 2.15.00.12.19

It gives me the option of apply update from sd card. Is there a way to put an update on the sd card that will fix the boot problem??

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!
moved you to the rooting section.

if you have recovery then you can try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps. if not then you might have to re-flash the rom. maybe try and again only wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the rom you are currently on.

if that does not work then maybe try a ful wipe)everything but the sd card). i know what you wanted to avoid wiping data, but you do want a working phone right?
