My virgin Mobile volt says chameleon for my 3g service? Anyone have any
Idea why? My lockscreen carrier name isn't there anymore, it says LG!

It sounds like your phone may have gotten an update,Have you updated your phone lately?

Did the ##rtn# dialer reset on my own with my msl#, reset as usual same thing. Called virgin, they did the ##72763# or whatever the reset one and before that they td me to turn my phone off and take the battery out for 2 minutes lol!

Well at this point,I would try to do a factory reset and see if it fixes everything for you.

It's strange in settings if I click network it says LG instead of what it used to say Virgin Mobile! Odd odd odd! I don't understand. Any insight would be appreciated,!

Even after a factory reset?

I'm talk about the whole phone factory reset:
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Press and hold the following keys: Volume Down Key + Power/Lock Key.
3. Release the keys as soon as the Factory reset processing screen is displayed.
4. Press the Volume Down Key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset . Then press the Power/Lock Key to select it.
5. Press the Volume Down Key to scroll to Yes -- delete all user data. Then press the Power/Lock Key to select it.
6. The phone will perform a factory reset.
7. Make sure that reboot system now is highlighted and press the Power/Lock Key to make the selection and reboot your phone.

Then just clear cache and data in twrp,Be sure to backup your contacts and any personal info you need.

The carrier id comes from eri.xml (inside framework-res.apk). Just reflash the Virgin Mobile apn fix from any of the rom threads, or check this out if you want to learn how to edit it yourself.

Chameleon is the codename for a kind of Sprint device. The volt is one of these devices. It allows for the device to be used on other networks and still on sprint networks. Take out the mini sim and turn on the phone. Replace it and turn on the phone again. Does your data still work when it says chameleon? Otherwise it could've been caused from flashing an apn fix. If nothing else works tho flash an APN fix and see if it resolves the issue
