So now that we are rooted how do we acquire a full dump of the system?

We need a ktool for this phone . SO I am assuming get it into debugging mode and connect through adb and throw some command at it to dump it?

Try using QtADB

Just remember nijel has only made this compatible with CWMod recovery's (there are some phone requirements as well, but most newer smart phones meet those). If your using another recovery it probably wont show anything.
With ADB established on a PC; CWMod recovery on the phone; and with the phone plugged into the PC; when you open up QtADB and run it (click on the Android Guy) it will show all your system and sd card files,allow you to put your phone into fastboot mode, flash a recovery, manage your applications, and more.

Optimus M (not +) will ONLY go into fastboot if a bad recovery is flashed or corrupt data....I don't know if the + would do the same or not. I know the V's is accessible at any time, or do you have to be rooted first?

And I would like a copy of whatever ROM you make, when you get to that point I want to see if it will boot on the OM (more porting vice versa will probably work as well IF I can port to the M regular)

But you still gotta get recovery going....
