Hero Localisation Hack?

I've got a tricky one.... also cross-posting to the Android Community fora.

I use my Hero for accessing some medical apps at work. I've managed to substitute some of my WinMo apps (iSilo for Android, woot!) and some are available as web replacements.

One of them, though is a database of Australian pharmaceuticals that is restricted to Australian access only.

When I search for something on the webpage, I get the following error:

"Culture name 'en-fr' is not supported. Parameter name: name"

Now, presumably this is related to the fact that my Hero came from France.

Can anyone think of where I might be able to change this setting so I can look at my Aussie web page???

I dont have a Hero ... But on a G1 you would go into setting and then under Locale & Text then Set Locale (stock G1 only has English & Spanish for US)
but My Rooted phone has probably 25 to 30 languages ...

So I would try looking in your setting menu for something Like "Locale" and then search all the options from there...

Yes, I've tried that - I can select English or French from the Locale screen (despite the fact I've rooted the phone). I imagine this is a choice between EN_FR and FR_FR - neither of which are going to cut it for me, unfortunately...

strange that the website looks for the culture and not the IP address to find out your location.

But anyway, this is a browser-specific setting, i.e. in FF: Tools -> Options -> Content -> Languages.

I don't see any possibility however on the built-in browser on the Hero. Did you try with Opera?

Have you tried installing the custom locale apk?
