Hey Guys

Grommett

Newbie
So the other day I posted some Questions about Rooting my HTC Desire.
I was helped by a very friendly fellow, But he has said that his Experience with Rooting Phones is not what it used to be.

I live in Australia, my Friend bought the Phone from Telstra (Our Countries largest Telco), I then bought it and put in a Vodafone SIM card (Works fine).

2 things I want to know about Rooting:

1. Can I remove the Bootup Logo and Substitute it for my own Image or Video?
2. Am I able to Remove App's I don't use that come with the phone?

Also, I have been told that if I root the phone that the Warranty will be Voided, Is there any way of Avoiding that :P

Boot logo is a ROM feature - can be customised with a custom ROM or with some tinkering with the ROM code. The lockscreen can be changed using an app like WidgetLocker.

Yes

You will need an RRU for your phone to restore it to it's original condition for warranty returns.

If you're thinking of rooting you need to start reading and learning. Spend time in the "All Things Root" forum in the Desire section. All the wisdom you will ever need is found there...
