Hey look, it's 4.0.3!!!

are those of us that are rooted going to be able to get OTA updates? i'm still on the stock recovery, just unlocked and rooted...

4.0.3 will be the "base" version of ICS.

"Google is calling this the "base version" of Ice Cream Sandwich that third parties will be pushing out on "production phones and tablets in the weeks ahead," so now developers have a nice juicy target to hit when Ice Cream Sandwich spreads beyond the Galaxy Nexus."

"Better social app integration for contacts"

Does this mean that we will be able to properly sync our Facebook contacts? Would be nice. I'm really gonna miss the auto-updating of contact pictures from FB.

You should still get the OTA, however, i'm not sure if it will break root or not. I am unlocked/rooted as well and will be staying on 4.0.2 until i get a definitive answer on that, or until a deodexed 4.0.3 build comes out (shouldn't be more than a couple days).

i know we are all excited but also keep in mind the holidays start next week so they probably won't get to testing and finalizing until after the new year so we should see it sometime in january i would imagine.

Updates almost always break root. It's perfectly normal. With an unlocked bootloader, there is literally nothing they can do to prevent regaining root.

Did you read it?? It said "in the coming WEEKS"
The statement about "in the coming weeks" was in reference to 4.0.3 being called "base ICS", the version that will be given to Motorola and HTC and the others to adapt to their respective UI skins, which will take a few months. I suspect us Nexus users will see 4.0.3 within a few days.
