Hi and help please!

Hello to all;I am a newbie to this site and I have a question and am not sure how to search the threads to see if anyone else has had the same issue I am currently having.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and I cannot get my text message notifications to make a sound. I have gone in via the settings icon and when I am in text messaging by hitting the settings button on the phone I can get it to make a sound when I am choosing it but not when I actually get a message- the lock screen notification shows the number of unread messages correctly but no sound is happening to let me know I have a text. Does anyone have any suggestions?

P.S. It was working fine and just quit all of a sudden a few weeks ago
.
Thank You, Sinderella
