Have you tried sliding out the keyboard? Have you tried a short tap on the power button? What were you doing when it happened?
Maybe a little more information will help. Or you can bring it back to Verizon for a replacement.

had to be done, you could try a battery pull.. that's usually the end all for fixes before you need a new phone.. luckly i haven't had to do one since i switched from BB to Droid, but sometimes for all devices it needs to be done

I'm going to sound like an ass here, but your post is lacking sufficient info for anyone to help you. How old is your phone? Rooted? Does it do anything at all then shut off? How did it happen? What have you tried to do to fix it?
More specifics might help.
