Highly Doubting 24th Release date

You would think that HTC would be wanting to roll the TB out the door as soon as possible. Look at all posts have we seen in this forum alone with people saying, "Screw it. I'm getting an iPhone." You have that whole percentage of people that are not die-hard Android that will jump ship because they can't have it right now.

I laid down $50 at BB over 2 weeks ago like thousands of others. I don't think it's to much to ask for a little info regarding why I still do not have the phone in my hand. My feedback to Verizon was based solely on poor communication, and the fact that they are plastering their 4G commercials all over Mars and back with nothing to show for it. What good is a 4G network when you have no phone to run on it? I (like the thousands I spoke of) would just like to know why they authorized a presale so early, if they knew they couldn't deliver the phone in a timely manner. <----Thats just my opinion, yours may/will vary.
I will agree that those who pre-ordered at bb could be angry. still though, you took bb's word that the phone would be out on the 14th, not verizons.

Because you don't do a ton of advertising on tv and the net about a new product and then when a customer asks questions about when it might be available say " I don't know". That's bad marketing and customer relations.

the average person, who will make up most of the buyers, has not gotten all uppity like people on this forum. they say oh cool a new phone is coming out, and when verizon gives word that its out they go get it.

the tv ad says coming soon. how can you expect to be told any different if you call and ask? a couple hundred people may get pissed because they don't get what they are looking for, but those few hundred are nothing in the overall scheme.

BS - What I was saying is that if you are talking to corporate they should be able to give you some sort of time frame rather than brush you off. They were not even willing to discuss it with me when I called, but they spend my family's money every month.

they gave a time frame, Q1 2011. how can you expect them to discuss something with you when they obviously do not even have a definite date? or not one they are willing to share with the public anyways

I disagree. If you blast the airwaves with commercials about your new super-phone, you should be able to give a date on when it will be on sale.

There was never a definitive day of release right? Last I heard they said QI....which starts in what? March?

All this B****ing is quite annoying.

Rating Verizon bad on a survey because of a phone where there was no release date is quite immature and childish.

But they can't really expect to throw out advertisement and NOT have people inquire about it. Believe it or not, there are people outside of our world that don't research to the ends of the earth to find out about the latest device, and may not eve know about quarter releases. If I saw a commercial for a new car at a dealership near me and wanted it, I'd probably call and ask when I could get it -- and most likely would not be happy with an "I don't know" answer.

And you are free to your opinion without shoving it down out throats, as we are free to ours without shoving it down yours. Let's just agree to disagree, as I guarantee you neither side would be willing to budge on their opinion. :)

No, they will not....First the whole BB frenzy, then this week frenzy and now supposedly it wont be released until March..

Just called two on my local Verizon stores and they said they do not get any shipments of the t-bolt. One lady said she'd be surprised if it got pushed back into March, but that anything is possible.

My local Best Buy Mobile manager said the phone will be in stock on Friday, the 25th. That makes no sense. Great googily-moogily. I need a drink.

By the time this is given a release date the revolution, and droid bionic will be right around the corner so I can see this launch being a failure unless they launch it soon.

I agree with Garnto, albeit I am very anxiously awaiting this phone to be released, I cant get pissed at Verizon. They never said it would be on sale on Feb 24, that information came from the always churning rumor mill.

As for those of you who pre-ordered @ BB? sorry to say but why? they are not Verizon, they are an Authorized reseller that all. When my wife wanted a Verizon Iphone, i went to Verizon, not Best buy or "Joe

I think the following will play out: Feb 24 Verizon will announce and begin on-line pre-orders, BB will get the phones in most stores where 4G is available. Feb 28th Verizon pre-orders will begin to arrive at door steps. March 3rd Thunderbolt will be available at Verizon Corp stores and other non-exclusive retailers.

I would LOVE for this to come to pass. Fingers and toes crossed.

I dont know about you guys, but that Atrix is one beast of a phone. Seems to have slightly better specs than TB only I wish it wasnt on ATT. :(

this is my online chat with best buy.FYI: i took my last name out because i didnt want to release it to public

Justin:

3:46 PM matthew :
hello all i would like to know today is details on the htc thunderbolt. i heard from my local best buy that its coming out tomorrow. is this true?
3:47 PM Justin:
The release Date for that phone has been pushed back but we do not have the exact date.
3:47 PM matthew :
will it be this month?
3:48 PM Justin:
Yes
3:49 PM matthew :
ok. i pre ordered mine and if it doesnt come out by the 26th, can i still get the buy back program for free?
3:52 PM Justin:
Give me a couple minutes to figure that one out for you
3:52 PM matthew :
ok thanks!
3:55 PM Justin:
Since it is HTC that is pushing back the date unfortunately there would be nothing we can do about getting the buy back program for free if it does indeed come in after the 26th.
3:56 PM :
ohhh ok. thanks that is all i had to ask. have a good day!

i guess its htc?! maybe they are trying to get skype working for release

Asked about the Thunderbolt at an official Verizon store in Billings, MT, and they said that the 24th is definitely not the release date. They did say, however, that the staff have been trained on it, so a release should, normally, be a "couple of weeks" away.

This response was a lot more solid than the last time I visited the store, when another sales rep gave me the "IDK" response.

To perhaps help spur things forward, I told them that I have decided to switch to Verizon (the Magenta Network does not work well in Montana), but only after the Thunderbolt is released. I told them, at the end of the convo, that "I'm ready when you're ready".

So when you buy a car, you fly/boat to Detroit or Ohio or Tokyo and buy it from the Chevy or Dodge or Toyota? No, you but if from a dealership. Dealerships are independently owned AUTHORIZED "dealers" Best Buy doesn't buy them off of eBay and sell them, and they don't make up their own dates.

If you would read MOST of the posts here, people aren't upset about a date. They are upset about a lack of communication from a communications company. I could care less if it comes out April 15. I'm well aware that Q1 ends March 31st... but why the advertising blitz (I saw at least 6 commercials during House Monday night) and say nothing more concrete than "soon" There is a commercial on Comedy Central as I type this...

Thank you for conveying nicely, what I was trying to get at. :)

Got to admire your unwavering faith, though doomed- still nice :)

The problem though is VZW announced a date for the Xoom and not the TB. This should speak volumes, not to mention VZW are not nuts enough to release two high profile devices the same week.

TB is looking like a March release. Still sticking with first week of March, but even that may be too early.

After seeing that "unseen" commercial this morning, and then going on the Verizon site and having it down for a bit, I was really hoping for at least the option to order. I'd lost hope, the regained a few ounces, and now I'm without it again. "Sigh."
