Home and Search button not working

Sometime in the last few hours my home and search button stopped working. The menu and back button still work. FWIW some weird things that happened before i noticed it was at work my phone froze and had to pull battery. Also on the way home from work my phone restarted while talking to my girl.

Anyone have this issue with the home and/or search button?
 
also i just noticed that when my screen shuts off, the lockscreen doesn't activate. any button would wake up the screen...

...don't know if this should go in rooted section, my phone is rooted but i assume this isnt related to cm...

Possibly root or custom Rom related. Moved to the All things root sub forum.

Are you using the Cyanogen Rom? I had the same issue. I had to do a full wipe and reinstall a later version of the Rom to get things working again.
 
Are you rooted ?? If yes what ROM are you on ??

The OP mentioned that he is rooted....also mentioned he doesn't think it is related to CM... I would suggest a nandroid backup, and reflash of the rom...but knowing which rom might help us help...is he using a custom kernel, is he OC'd?

other possible things to look at...available ram, if too low, that could cause the rebooting.....maybe too many text messages stored on phone...maybe clear cache?
 
i'm running cm6 rc1 w/ no custom kernel and have oc widget to 691, i've tried rebooting several times, i had some time this morning and flashed cm6.1stable and it does the same thing, i'm going to do a full wipe tonight and reflash cm, hopefully that works...

also some other weird stuff happened after my phone restarted, a couple of my launcher pro settings went back to default as well as my keyboard went straight to default, i had to go back into settings to enable shapewriter and swype

oh and one more thing to add to the list, apparently my girl and work called me this morning and it went straight to voicemail...fml

Yep, a full wipe to stable 6.1 should solve these issues. Wipe data, davlik cache and cache. Then flash the rom, then the gapps
 
I find myself having a similar problem.

I have lost the function of my search key.

On top of that, for every program that has an input, I had to re-select swype.

I believe it is somehow tied to wifi.

I'll write more later, but give that some thought.

I'm on cm6.1 stable.

And, in the past I have missed calls. This I also blame on the wifi. I have no proof, but it seems to coincide.
 
I would Nandroid and try flashing the Rom again to see if the problem occurs in the new flash, then report back

I think there is a reoccurring theme here. I have experienced the same issues twice. I also am running CM with swype. I had to do a data wipe and upgrade to CM 6.1, but the problem happened again. I think my phone froze and rebooted into this issue when the ram got to be to high, but that is just a hypothesis right now.

I still believe the CM6 stable has more bugs than the latest nightlies, imo;) I would flash a newer nightly
