Root Home Button fix - Need help, PLEASE!!!

The LG Esteem I have started acting crazy after I hit the Facebook app and asked me to force close the application. Once doing so, the phone started turning on/off continuously so I took the battery out to disable the device. When I turned-it back on, all of my photos, text messages, and call history were gone! I also noticed that the home button located between the settings tab and back arrow wasn't working anymore.

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find how to fix the home button . I rooted the phone hoping that would help, but nothing yet . Does anyone know a way to fix this that you'd be kind enough to share, please?

With regards to the pics and text messages, is there any way to recover these on the LG Esteem? Thanks to all in advance!

A few questions for you to try to help you out

• What version is your phone on ZVB-ZVC-ZVD
• Did you install recovery onto the phone after rooting it

If not download ROM Manager and "flash clockworkmod recovery" in the app.
It sounds as though you factory reset your phone.

Since you're rooted, I moved this to the All Things Root forum.

A factory reset could help with some issues, but on some rooted phones if you don't do it the right way it can cause even more problems. I don't know enough about your phone so hopefully maybe someone here can help.

I'm running version ZVD and have not yet installed the recovery after rooting it. What will the "ROM Manager" and "flash clockworkmod recovery" app do? I took a moment to read the description from the link, but I'm still not clear on what it does? Would it allow me to restore the phone to an earlier point in time, say yesterday?

It will allow you to make a backup as of the time you install recovery to the phone. It won't restore anything prior to you installing it.
I asked what version because I was going to suggest that you upgrade to ZVD to try and fix the phone for you.
Try unmounting and re mounting your sd card to see if your pics reappear. As for the text and history there is no way to recover them that I am aware of/thus the reason to install recovery. It would have the option to restore those in a case like this.
