Root Home button won't work, settings changed

Hello... I'm on the LG Esteem running the Number Two ROM. I do realize some troubleshooting steps I can take to fix the problem I'm about to describe, but figured I'd post this early to get ideas from you in case things don't work out or you've had this problem and also to let it be known there is a problem with SOMETHING lol. Anyway...

I thought my phone was *****ing out lately; very laggy. I uninstalled some apps and attributed the problem to the new theme I'm using for GOLauncher (I'm running GoLauncher, GoSMS, and GoLocker and have been using them for quite some time without lag or problem). Last night is when I realized some of what I thought was lag was actually the fact that my home button gives me haptic feedback but it doesn't DO anything. I press it, it vibrates like normal, but no action what-so-ever even when I hold it down to bring up recent apps. Then this morning I noticed my SwiftKey keyboard was unset from default and my phone kept giving me the stock LG keyboard - I changed it to SwiftKey again and now it keeps changing back. THEN!!!! My brother texted me and I realized my sound settings were changed to give me a silent ringtone for notifications and calls (However my alarm's ringtone stayed unchanged). Not just that my phone was silenced, but when I went to change the ringtones back the "Silent Ringtone" was selected on the list of ringtones. Also another weird thing that happened was at school yesterday, my phone was at 3% battery so I plugged my charger in and it went IMMEDIATELY to 43% (and then back down to 25% within 10 minutes). I wiped battery stats and have yet to see if there's still an issue with my battery.

I've concluded that something is changing my settings. I have LookOut and it can't detect anything. I have uninstalled all apps that I have installed since just before the problems began. My next step is to back everything up, wipe everything, and switch to another ROM that I've been meaning to switch to...but I have too much to do today. :P

Lol

I think you have the right idea. My data and 4G signal was ****ing (lol) up last week along with my phone taking hours to reboot. I did my first ever 'wipe' and all is well again. So, yes, I think you should follow through with that.

There is a setting in your launcher that gives the "Home" key a property. You can change it to go "home", turn the screen off, do nothing, etc....

Check your launcher settings ;)

this problem is all over the internet on other Android phones. The Home Button doesn't work except in recovery, the phone will not provide a lock screen and every key turns the screen back on, and the only Power Options you get when holding the power/lock button down for a couple seconds is the Power Off option.

Every website says to hit the Clear Data button on Google Apps but the newer versions of Market do not have a Clear Data button. The other option was to perform a factory reset. Here is an easier fix that takes a couple of minutes.

Go to Settings, Accounts, Add Account. Add another Google account. Don't sync anything. Go back and remove that Google account.

My lock screen, power options, and Home button started working again without a reboot. Quick and easy and the best thing is you do
