Help Home screen wallpaper doesn't scroll

The home screen wallpaper on my S4 has stopped scrolling.

I read elsewhere that the home screen wallpaper needed to be 2160x1920 and I have tried to use wallpaper this size but when I select an image of that size I get a resizing box that is confusingly + shaped ie like two rectangles at 90 degrees to each other overlaid. I haven't the faintest idea why it's that shape or even what I'm supposed to do with that.

Has anyone else managed to change their home screen wallpaper and still have it scroll as they change screen?

The Galaxy S4 doesn't scroll wallpapers, the S3 didn't either. Think it's a touchwiz thing, maybe a launcher would change it!

Are you sure about that? I have read in several places on the net that the home screen wallpaper resolution is 2160x1920 ie wide enough to allow for scrolling. If it didn't scroll, wouldn't the resolution just be 1080x1920?

The two shapes are so you can orient the wallpaper either in portrait or landscape and whats in the box is what you get. Note that the phone will use the portrait box if you are holding it in portrait and the landscape if you are holding it in landscape.

I've no idea on why they lost it but in my case I hated it from the very first time I saw it so I'm thankful its gone. With the S2 and 3 there was a touchwiz mod that required root but scrolling or non scrolling along with adjustable grids and the like were included. you can also use any number of market launchers such as Apex where it is an option in the settings.

I have a Samsung Charge and the phone was able to have scrollable wallpaper when i got it. Then there was an update that took it away. so same may be true with the GS4....

i downloaded an app that allows me to scroll my wallpaper though:

Wallpaper Wizardrii

give that try

Never even noticed as I installed Nova launcher straight away. :D

honestly, i HATED touchwiz on my Charge and got GO Launcher...liked it alot but it started having a lot of issues about a month ago so i deleted it and am running touchwiz again...

some things are very annoying with touchwiz, like the 4 buttons on the bottom only and not being able to change them...

You can change the bottom buttons. Simply drag on or off with the exclusion of the app drawer icon which you're stuck with.

I am 1,000,000% sure ;)

From stock the home screen resolution is 1080 x 1920 as the phone does not support scrolling wallpapers unless installed via third party - the Galaxy S3 was the same.

I really wish Samsung would allow you to move the location of the app drawer icon instead of forcing it to be all the way on the right. I'd prefer to have it in the middle, but can't move it around.

oh nice. Wasnt able to do that on the Charge and is very annoying....can you add more than 4 or is that the max?

Having poked around on the net, I can find nothing to suggest you aren't right about this. The big wallpapers (ie 2160x1920) I have seen must have been for launchers other than Touchwiz.

I know some people hated the scrolling wallpaper but I rather liked it. Time to start testing some other launchers.

Thanks for your help.

No, four plus app drawer is max and the drawer still has to be on the right. Without the launcher mod the TW launcher wouldn't make it but a few minutes past the time I opened the box.

The actual resolution needed is 2160X1920
I have a link but the bots won't let me post it.
