I have a secure network and I really want to add my android to it. since we live in "bodunk central"
Please, please, pretty please - Help me.. :(

what do you mean secure?

is the wifi encrypted with a password?
do you stop the wifi from broadcasting the ssid?
do you filter wireless clients using mac filtering?

my guess is that it's the age old 'on screen keyboard hiding the passphrase box'.

on the screen where you specify the wifi encryption settings. it had me guessing for far too long =]

Maybe by secure he means wired ethernet, and if by "my android" he means a flytouch 3 then it's just a matter of getting a proper length patch cable and plugging into a network switchport and the ethernet port on the android.

I have a question that may be able to be answered here. I am currently in the desert in Iraq. I ordered a droid tablet. Mayong 250. Well wireless is hard to come by but it came with an adapter to connect and ethernet cable. My problem is that the ISP that I subscribe to requires the browser to redirect for log in with a username and password that I created. My droid browser will not redirect. Ive tried typing the ISP in but to no avail. I cannot download a different browser because I cant get online. Any ideas or work arounds? HELP PLEASE

how did you send this message?
off a pc?

you may be able to download another browser and then install it to your device from the pc.

check out 'android injector' on your pc. it looks as though you can use it to install .apk files onto your phone from a pc.

.apk files are the format for android applications.

otherwise im fairly certain you can copy them to the sd card, and then install them on the phone with an app like 'astro file manager'.
but then you will need to get 'astro' on your droid somehow =[

hope that helps

hmm, you may have to get the sd card into the pc somehow.
the pc might have an sd card reader, or you may have to get a usb to sd card adapter.

then again, you may try a whole bunch of browsers and find that none of them will redirect to your isp's site.

the safest option may be changing isp.
it should have a 'cooling off' period in which you can cancel and not be penalised. if you have exceeded that, you can probably argue that you haven't used the service yet, or that the lack of android support was not explained to you.

i wish i could give you a more difinitive answer. i do know that when i was in indonesia i used 'dolphin browser hd' to successfully authenticate with the local isp through a similar site. so i could only assume that browser would work fine.

can you see the new ssid of the netgear when you search for wireless networks?

I feel like such a "creep" asking for help and not "Thanking".:(
I am so sorry for not "Thanking"... just noticed it tonite! yes, I have a LOT of "duh" moments when it comes to this forum. Sorry for this and any other "boo boos" I have made up to now and surely will make in the future! :o

Don't worry about it - you did have other things on your mind. :)

Does this mean that you've successfully connected to the network now?
