Help How do I close stock browser

Without paying back 1000 times? Once I've finished with Web I don't want it running in the background all the time.

I would guess: just like how you would close any other app.

Long press the home button to get the list of running apps, then slide horizontally across the one you want to close.

Well you can just leave it running in the background, Android quite happily manages apps by itself so you don't need to kill tasks.

However if you don't want to see the last page you visited when you next open your browser you could open a new window, close the old one then press 'home' or 'back'.

Press the window app near the address bar
Then minus button
Then back out or press home

Or hold the home button to bring up the task manager and hit end.

I agree with the above. I use browser tabs like favourites, I have 7 tabs open in the stock browser and another 5 open in chrome.
If I've finished with a site I'll close the window/tab but I leave the core ones there all the time.
I can't see any benefit to me in closing the browser completely.
Still if you really want to, all of the suggestions above work.
When I first got an android phone I would open a new tab with the homepage and close all the other tabs and then hit back... until I found out that there was no need.
