Root how do i flash a update oc kernel zip?

So i know how to flash, just go to recovery, do all the steps for flashing a ROM and leave the kernel zip for last. But how do i use the oc kernel? its PG kernel for the cm7 build. I want to use it but dont know how to. once i flash it what do i do when im all booted and stuff? Do i have to do a certain thing?

No,just go to SETTINGS>CYANOGENMOD SETTINGS>PERFORMANCE & the additional settings of 729 & 748 will be there with the rest of the CPU settings.

so what the zip does is just add extra settings to the CPU option, such as 729 and 748.

That's all it does.A word of caution.Until you are certain your phone can handle the higher settings,leave the 'SET ON BOOT' option unchecked.
 
can some post some step by step instructions on how to flash the update-kernel-2.6.29-chaosOC_748-0521-0624-signed.zip, cause I tried it twice, and both times after I reboot out of ClockWorkMod it stays stuck at a new trondroid screen that I never seen before, then I gotta go back to the ClockWorkMod and go to my last restore, I really wanna try the new 748Mhz oc kernel on my huawei ascend to see if it can handle it, any help is appreciated
 
Yeah but, mine is set to 710 on boot, so the new cpu speed cant be the problem cause I haven't set it, I feel like I'm jus doing it wrong, then again I probably didn't do wrong, and there jus another litle problem, I feel like it can handle it though if I had a chance to set it, cause it runs perfect with the 710.

something with those kernels some ascends just do not like and wont boot period.
 
See that's my problem with the original kernel. Ever since I went from CM6 to CM7 I can't OC at 710, 691 is my max. I know my phone won't handle the 729/748 speeds.

The other problem. I Can't get my contacts ringtones to work. Haven't been able to make them work on any of the CM's.. I put them in media/audio/ringtones on my SD card and they show up to select just won't play them. Play's the Phone Ringtone.. Is there a way to make them work??
