Widget locker. Or root and delete the htc lock. That is the stock android unlock screen

FWIW: Rooting does not cost anything, but it is not for the uninitiated. Do a bit of reading before deciding to proceed down that path. I will say, however, that it's not terribly difficult, but it can take a while to learn the lingo and make sense of what everyone is telling you to do.

There is a really good how to in the root sub forum. You could try and foreclose the htc lock system process but I think it just restarts itself.

What can WidgetLocker do? I've heard it can set lockscreen wallpapers and now change the slider. I'm intrigued.

And it allows widgets to be added to the lockscreen. Throw in something like folder organizer or multicon and its super handy
