Root How do I "Open Bootstrap"?

I am rooted and want to try a custom ROM but I am stuck at making a nandroid back-up. I downloaded koush-DroidXBootstrap from the website and extracted to the SD card. The the instructions that RoOoLeR posted say "1 - Download ... 2

When you install the bootstrap, open the program - it should be named "Droid X Bootstrap" in your app drawer - and the top box will say "bootstrap recovery". That's all you need to do. Then when you reboot, it will boot into the bootstrap mode.
 
Wow! :eek: Thanks for the quick replies but I'm still not getting it. :( I went to My Brain Hurts: Droid X Recovery (and Droid 2 too!) and downloaded a file DroidXBootstrap.zip I put in in the root directory of my SD card. Now what? If I click on it it will allow me to extract it but that's it... still stuck. :(
you should just download through your browser then when finished click on it and it should prompt you to install the .apk file
