Help How Do I Remove These Bloatware Apps ??

w1ksz

Newbie
The S3 is a nice phone, but Apps keep appearing that I did not download, nor do I want. They just take up space (and memory).

Specifically:

ChatOn
Play Books
Music Hub
AT&T DriveMode
AT&T FamilyMap
AT&T LOcker
Mobile TV

There are a few more, but these will do for a start.

Thanks,

RS

And make sure that you aren't on automatic updates in the play store, or they will just keep popping up every time there is an update

Yeah disable them in Settings, Applications, ALL.
unfortunately since the manufacturers/carriers refuse to let us "own" our phone like we do our PC, we cant just uninstall these apps without removinp the idiot-locks (rooting) ;)

Only true way to remove them all is to Root the phone and add a custom ROM. I did that and all that T-Mobile crap came right off. Clean as a whistle now.

They are not listed in the application manager you have to make sure your in all. When you first go in it shows downloaded then running then all. You can go in there and disable the ones you don't want. If your not able to disable the only other way would be to root your phone. Which means modifying the sw.

Well, if I knew what you were talking about, but I don't.

Well it seems if you want to remove the bloatware on your phone you will need to do a bit of research. You need to root your phone. Meaning you "free" your phone. No locks its just like a horny chick on prom night. Just waiting for somebody:D. Once you root it and install something like Clockwork Rom you can install a custom ROM and wipe out all bloatware. I was in the same boat as you are in now a couple of weeks ago so I know what you are going thru. Read a bit and experiment. It was harder for me cause I am a MAC guy so it may be easier for you.

You don't have to install a rom to remove bloatware. You just need to root and then use an app like titanium backup (free version) to delete the unwanted apps. Just be sure to make a backup with CWM in case you delete something important and the phone no longer boots.
