How do you like 4.0 ICS on your T989?

I have an annoying stock email problem. I am using the stock email with my comcast.net account. When I receive a new email, if I delete it without reading it (junk mail). On the next check for email it will bring in an email from a few days ago. Right now it is pulling in a email from the 18th.

I don't use stock email so I can't help much. It sounds like some kind of sync issue. Try resyncing see if that helps. Have you tried another email app like gmail to see if it does the same thing? Maybe it could be a comcast mail server issue.

I also have a work email assigned which I don't have problems with. Any other email apps I can use? Can't use K9 because we are Exchange 2010. I may have to break down and pay $20 for Touchdown.

How do you resync?

Sorry I have not been around to Participate in the discussion - but from what I read it seems ICS is having some major problems. I wonder if it is because it is like the old version of ICS. I remember that Galaxy Nexus users were complaining of many of the problems we see when 4.0.3 came out and thus is why most of them were fixed in 4.0.4 but it is simply sad that carriers cannot roll out a new update and fix all of the features that are broken all of a sudden. I am still wondering how CM9 is suppose to work because when I flash it - the load does not get past the boot animation - I mean literary it sits there for 20 minutes.

I am not holding my breath for any new updates so I am hoping I can install cm9 and see what I can do with it. One thing that definitelly needs to work is the phone feature which started having disruptions in ICS - losing two important phone calls in the process made me restore Gingerbread from an awesome nandroid backup and I am still rocking 2.3.6 (like many of you I assume)

Check in settings about phone. Your baseband version is still probably ICS LE1 and your Build number is Gingerbread LDE. Kies won't recognize your phone if there is another update. At least that was my experience restoring a nandroid. I had to Odin to LDE to get it fixed.

I guess that could be the case. Everything is working now and it is all good. I think if there is another update I will first restore my nandroid of gingerbread and go ahead and flash the update. If we know how fast t-mobile are they will take their time with the next update and I can imagine how much time it will take for gellybean to get delivered. Just makes me sad!

Latest report here!!! I updated to ICS for the second time because I felt like I did not give it a good shot to impress me. Well this time I spent about a week with it and I have to tell you one thing "get that crap out of my face now man!!!"

I was a good boy and did a factory wipe and everything, I also reinstalled all of my apps one by one from the store so there can be no doubt that they are made for ics and all of that jazz. Everything was done in a scientific manner or at least in a manner of giving the system every opportunity to impress me.

1. First of all - Over all slow and sluggish system - like OMG I cannot scroll from one home screen to another without studder. Apps lunch about 2-3 seconds after I clicked on them.

2. More crashes from apps which I have never experienced crashes from like facebook, youtube, and gmail (really gmail).

3. Battery life is absolutely stupid have to charge my phone 2 times a day with moderate use. I bought juice defender ultimate and that improved to charging it once every 12 hours. You should not need a third party app to get 1 day battery with your phone.

4. In addition to sluggish the system would freeze and I would have to do a battery pull in order to restart my device. Sometimes I was like what in the world did I pressed for this to happen?

5. Games that I play while I am traveling started having a problem - yes temple run is one of them and omg I cannot even get past the first set of coins without dying - (this is not what broke the deal - just a minor annoyance).

6. What really really made me go crazy was the fact that my brother bought a galaxy nexus today and was showing it off and OMG 4.0.4 GOODNESS it works like no other. No studder no slugishness and OMG did I say smoooth.

So as we speak I am restoring my image of gingerbread and that is going to be it until I decide to sell the phone or until I go slap some babies and dial down the rage factor!!!!

I went back to it for another week and did everything in the world... was just crap with occasional FCs etc. killed it and went to

[ROM][ICS 4.0.3] ::DARKSIDE.EVOLUTION.3:: [v7][UVLE1][VENOM OC|UV][6.23.2012]

Not as happy as I was with Zombie, but Holy Crap... Battery life is back! Did crash it once, but I was really messing about.

Yep I am doing that one too and it is pretty good. I like the custom things on it - the way it looks is really good. I am still trying to figure out how to overclock - do you need setcpu from the market to do that?

I haven't even played with it, just want stable and good battery life... I'm pulling it off the charger at like 6am and still have about 50% at 1 am right now. (for the last few days anyway) I just want to enjoy that for a while! ;)

+1 on the messaging bing hidden... I know t-mo is pushing for all the feedback it can get, and saying this is why they aren't pushing it OTA, but it is silly. if they used the same phones it would be cheaper all around and easier to deal with. I guess as consumers we need to only buy things that comply to a more universal standard, forcing the providers to follow us. I'm still happy that Tmo is the least expensive and best sounding network in my area though... glad it isn't part of ATT...

First Bandaid I have to say I like your font :-) and second you are totally right it seems developers in the XDA just get it. Darkside with it's custom kernel does so many things better than the official version of ICS for the T989 it is not funny. I wish the big companies actually focused on what is important for the end user not what they think is pretty looking.

I think I speak for many people when I say that convenience and speed seem to be the most important. Convenience as to the way you obtain updates - there is no computer required (if you know what you are doing) when installing a custom rom because all of my backups and files are either on the sd card or on the cloud. Why does Samsung suddenly decide that you have to use their crappy software to update. I mean Apple moved away from that for God's sake.

Also the 4.0.3 update that they released is a monstrosity - if you see that there is problems with the official version - modify it. Samsung should have the man power and brains - after all they are a fortune 500 company and have highly paid programmers.

Seems to me Samsung is going the wrong way - they focus on aesthetics and what looks pleasant than the simple - it works and it works smooth and nice point. Everyone that uses a smart phone will say, "I do not want app crashes and slow launching apps as well as screen studder when I flip through home screens" - I want it just flawless, so I can get my work done.

Also have you guys noticed that the messaging app has gotten worse in 4.0.3 if you use Swift Key 3 the keyboard obscures the messaging windows in landscape and thus you cannot see the message that you are responding to. Also at one point it obscures the words you are typing?

I had to get a replacement S2 after only 3 months because it would not hold a charge. Tried new battery first. The second phone they sent me already had the upgrade. I was having trouble with the touch key lights staying on even though I had set them to always on. Went to T-Mobile store and they said I needed another new phone. The next one came and had same issue. Called customer support and spoke to tech. She took me through all kinds of steps and decided I needed yet another new phone. Third phone in a week came and surprise same issue. Touch screen lights would not stay on. This time I was told that the problem was not the phone. the problem was the new software 4.0 ice cream sanwich update. Told there was a glitch and it didn't work with the always on setting. It took 3 phones in a week and at least 6 people at T-Mobile to tell me that. I even had called and spoke to a tech at Samsung who apparently did not know. Is Samsung aware of glitches and do they intend to let all their mobile providers know? Would have saved me playing musical phones !!! I don't see anything great about the upgrade. The older version worked just fine. Sorry for the ranting but it was very frustrating. Has anyone else noticed the issue with the touch screen light?
