Root How do you unroot from the unrevoked method?

I have been looking at alot of threads about this unrevoked root but does anyone know when the 2.2 froyo comes out will this effect the update. Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just on the line of to root or not. Thanks for everyones help.

to unroot via unrevoked. deleted the unrevoked app and the superuser app via your application settings and then deleted the apk unrevoked file from your sd card.
im positive this works as i was rooted via unrevoked and yesterday unrooted and then rooted via toasts method and installed a custom rom.

Robg2008 seems correct. I removed superuser and unrevoked apps, then cleared my sd card. I shut it down, turned it back on, and root is gone. I verified by trying to run the wifi tether app.

Well, my only reason for being rooted does not work yet for me (wireless tethering on 3g) so I was thinking about unrooting my phone untill it does. If anyone knows for shure that just removing the app will do the trick then let us know (if you try it befor i do)

wait im lost you want to unroot cause you cant get wifi tetering to work? it does work you know just not with the barnacle ap.

God, I wish we could get rid of 95% of the posts in this thread, as only about 1 or 2 are actually providing the answer, and you have to dig through 20 posts to get to it.

I tried removing superuser through the app manager, but it doesn't even give me the option of removing. My superuser is messed up and I want to reinstall it, but I can't remove the current one.

did you remove unrevoked too? Remove it first, restart your phone and try to remove the superuser, I think i used uninstaller to remove them myself, worked like a charm (though i run it again now for the tethering)

Has anyone been able to remove the superuser permissions buttons after unrooting? I am interested in knowing if I have the ability to remove that button after deleting unrEVOked.

Would it take a reflash of the ROM?

I have also successfully uninstalled Unrevoked, Super User Permissions, and Wireless Tether. Using the above method. Run Astro File Manager, press menu> tools> Application Manager/backup> Check apps for deletion> press menu> press UnInstall.

Thanks, Been looking for the proper RUU's (saw them somewhere but then forgot where, lol) Just put mine back to stock to get froyo update when it comes out tomorrow (well later today). ran the RUU and worked almost perfectly, the phone said it was done, but my comuter said it was still doing it, 30 mins later, unplugged then phone (yeah took a risk) from the computer and everything was GREAT (except for the fact it took 2 more hours to re-download and install the apps back and adjust all the settings/accounts back right, was backed up, but kinda hard to run Ti-backup when not rooted)

I'm rooted with Unrevoked3 and I never flashed a custom ROM at all. Still totally stock over here (I just wanted wifi and quit there). So how can *I* unroot?

Same way as above. download a stock ROM and stick it in your SD card. Then boot into recovery (power off your phone, then when it's completely off, hold down power and volume-down until the bootloader comes up. After it does its scan, volume-down to RECOVERY). From there, you'll want to flash ZIP from sdcard. Choose the file you put on your SD card.

So as the title of this post said, I have my phone rooted with unrevoked 3, if I upgrade to Froyo will my phone be bricked?

Also, I know in previous versions of unrevoked you could uninstall unrevoked through "Manage Applications" in "settings" but that doesn't pop up in this version of unrevoked, would uninstalling superuser permissions hide that the phone is rooted if I take it in to Sprint?

I have U3, too and I was able to upgrade to the rooted Froyo just fine and still have root access. I went back to my custom ROM though because it honestly didn't seem to be all that great (maybe I didn't look around enough), and I couldn't restore my files through MyBackup for some reason.

i have the same question as the OP. im in unrEVOked3 as well. what do we have to do to insure a safe update from sprint's OTA 2.2 update?

Get the official update out of your head :D

Go to XDA, get one of the rooted roms, and you won't cripple yourself with going back to stock unrooted.

Start by getting titanium backup, and go for it. I lost not a single setting, but it would be better to wipe and then restore with Ti.

ALL I WANT IS TO UNISTALL UNREVOKED... I'll go from there, but there has to be a way to get it OFF MY EVO... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

I upgraded 2.1 to 2.2 on my evo, which got rid of unrevoked3 and the root, but superuser app is still in my apps. It doesn't show up in Astro file manager or any other uninstaller, so I can't figure out how to get rid of it! HELP
