How does everyone get these phones before they come out?

I ordered mine the day it was 1st offered by Verizon. Never having given in to a smartphone before. I fortunately left my basic LG at a baggage claim & was due for a new every 2. It just so happened the Incredible was announced that day & I decided a new toy would be fun - & Verizon said they'd take orders starting the following Monday. I logged on & ordered 1st thing. Just lucky, I guess ;-)

Ordered what? there isnt anywhere to preorder on verizon for the Moto droid X
 
Testers of course. Or if you know someone that works for the company. Also eBay ad other places like that.
 
or find some silly sap who decided to sell thiers on ebay 3 weeks early at what is believed to be retail cost and snap it up like i did a week ago
 
We work on mobile phone software. I had the Fascinate months before it was announced, and it was only given an i500 designation.

Had Droid X when it was called Shadow.

Got a bunch of other pre-release phones I can't talk about ... I also have launch date info, but that's ALWAYS changing.

I work on console software. I had the PS3 months before it was announced, and it was only given an TX428 designation.

Had 360 when it was called Cupcake.

Currently working on the next generation consoles with the Big 3, but I can't talk about... I also have launch date info, but as you know... it always changes.

since you have insider info, why cant you just answer many of the questions still in the X lobby? It would really help, and we would be thankful

That's an obvious answer...it doesn't have any insider info :p. If it did they would know the Shadow was the codename for the droid 2 and was intentionally changed via the pr department so the rumors died down.
