Root How does one root Android 2.2.1 ?

Is there anything like z4 for 2.2.1?
I tried downgrading fallowing instructions found on this forum. Failed for me.
Need my wireless tether back.
Phone is:
LG Opt. MS690
SW Version MS690ZV4
Android 2.2.1

There is currently no way to root 2.2.1 you have to downgrade. If you can't get the downgrade to work then you must of missed a step it has been confirmed to work. I can only suggest you try till you get it to work.

asadullah is right. People are urgently working on getting 2.2.1 rooted for the Optimus M, but for now just 2.2.

But there's at least two ways to downgrade. You tried them both?

I understand the desire to root, no need to explain. But your one example made me laugh. You actually internet tether other devices with Metro's slow internet? :confused: Why? Metro's internet is like 170k at best.
 
Took me a while, but I finally down(up)graded back to 2.2. Hey, andyo70, ChazzMatt, asadullah, thanks...I tried opt. 2) half a dozen times...I missed something....1) worked for me the second try...but I'm very new to all this, so I know it was ME, not the software or instructions..
Thanks guys! Y'all are just real close to awesome
 
use metro due to being without steady work for 21 months...rather buy food than premium internet or cell service....sorry

There are still places where free wifi is not available. For example Disney World. They charge $9.99 a day for it (some hotels are still wired for that price). Also, you can surf the net while riding in a car. Sure it is slow, but slow is better than nothing.

OK, I wasn't denigrating anyone. I was just curious. I can see surfing on the phone, but tethering is using your phone's internet connection to let other devices access the internet using your phone's internet connection -- like your laptop. The MetroPCS internet connection on the phone is slow enough, it would just drive me crazy to try to use it on a real computer. ;)

Just last weekend I was in a hotel that wanted to charge me to connect the Optimus to their wi-fi network, so I did not. There were no free wi-fi networks within range. So, I just used Metro's internet connection. But uploading pics to facebook took minutes instead of seconds. :mad:

I didn't think you were. I was just giving you some examples where it might be useful. I don't plan on using it much, but I like that it is available.
 
Did one of my co-workers optimus m's with 2.2.1 with super one click yesterday.......no problems

How???????? Sure the phone had 2.2.1????? you are the first human on Earth to achieve that!!!!!!! Tell us how you did it pleaseeeeeeeeee.
 
Yes..Please tell us, and did it help speed up 2.2.1 when mine updated it was miserably slow. So back to 2.2, which was a time for me I do not want to repeat.
 
Have you guys tried visionary to root 2.2.1? If you try this, DO NOT perm root since it was designed for other devices!
