Have had enough of my slow Eris. Ordered DX online the afternoon of 9/8, for full price. Confirmation email said delivery by 9/21. Called CS today on another matter and asked about my order. I was advised that many phones will be shipped on 9/16, so I will probably have it 9/17 (chose freeovnt) BTW I'm in NYC.

Just looked on the Verizon status page for my order from Wednesday:
"Due to overwhelming inventory demands, your DROID X by Motorola order will ship on 09/21/2010"
Bummer - was hoping it might say something about a sooner shipment.
On a side note - I just dropped my girlfriend off at a photoshoot she's doing...there was a Verizon store very nearby so I stopped in to take a look at the DX. Gotta say I was impressed (this was my first look at the actual unit itself). One thing I noticed was that it didn't seem THAT big to me. Actually just perfect size for my big mitts. Screen was very impressive (!) since I am changing from a Treo 755p to the DX. I only played around with it for a few minutes since several others were there to look at it as well, but it is a very cool device!

Actually, Shipping dates are getting shorter..
When I bought my phone I had to wait 14 days.. now people only wait 10 days..

So lets say I wanted to load the R2 D2 boot animation to my phone, as a newbie, would you recommend it if I had instructions on how to do it from SDK? And what's the worse that could happen?

Well, I don't know how to do any of that stuff.. But my guess is that if gone wrong.. You could possible blow up the entire universe.

I'm supposed to be getting mine tomorrow. Idk if I'll be there when it's delivered because I'll be in classes and wont be home til like 5 so idk.

not sure about where you live but if you leave a signed note on the door addressed to fedex they will leave it as a signature overide in most cases. but only do this if you feel safe having it left there.

Yea that's where mind started out at, now its in atl. So yours should be in atl tomorrow and def be there tuesday.Tracking says its in Memphis so close.
That sucks, I'm leaving work early so I can get my phone all hooked up. I'm so excited, I've been using a blackberry 8330, I was in need of using my upgrade. lol.

Haha, ya you were due for an upgrade. I'm using an LG Envy 3. I can't wait to get the phone. I'm waiting to see if I'll need an extended battery. This is my first android device.

Well I upgrade when the first moto droid came out and the battery sucked so i took it back. I've heard that the battery is sooo much better on the droid x. i cant wait to get it tomorrow! it's like christmas early. lol

Ordered on 9/10 (Late Night)
Shipment Notification this morning 9/12
Should arrive on 9/14.
This was after a month of being on a local Verizon store with no deposit, and three weeks of being on a list of a different store with a deposit. Can't wait to finally have it, wish i would have just ordered it online in the first place.
