How many do you?

How many app updates do you wait for until you actually update them?
I'm right now at 28!
I need to just do more about cleaning out garbage apps I never use though.
So what's your update cycle like?

One of the first things I check when I turn on my devices every morning.

If an app is working as advertised, and I'm happy with it, I may never update it. I check the "What's new" section now and then, for an app that has updates waiting, just to see what has been updated and I'll go ahead and update if there is a new feature that I really need. When I install an app I consider the transaction complete.. as if the app will never be updated again.

I open up Play Store whenever I receive a notification of available upgrades.

But then I read the reviews for each app before upgrading. If an upgrade has lots of "the upgrade stinks, no longer plays videos only hear the sound" etc. reviews then I leave it until it receives another upgrade, but I will upgrade the apps with ok reviews.

That way I keep on top of the upgrades. But it also means I have a list of apps that I won't upgrade yet.

That's the thing. Occasionally an update really borks an app whether it's due to the update itself or your version of Android currently running.

This is why I stopped upgrading apps that are already working as advertised.

I check a couple of times a day. But I also see what is changed before accepting an update (which means I never use "update all" but always do it individually).

If an update is a step backwards I roll back using my Titanium Backup. If it adds features I don't want, it's never updated again, and usually replaced at some point.

I leave it on auto update and don't worry about it. If they are trying to change permissions you have to review it and update manually anyway. I'm fairly selective on apps installed anyway, so there aren't a lot to worry about.

Check a few times a week or if I see something on Phandroid.com, I don't have many so there aren't updates too often.

I check every notification I get .. then ignore all the stuff I don't actually use but can't remove - like Google+ etc.

In the past, I also ignored anything that looks like it would affect how I use the app, however that hasn't come up since I got my new phone and had to take the latest versions of everything, anyway.

My Nexus 7 automatically updates everything. So, I never have to check for them. However, my iPhone, it doesn't do that, and it really annoys me because I have to do it myself. I usually wait until I am on WiFi and I am currently using my iPhone, I just see updates and update. It's really annoying! iOS really needs to catch up to Android in terms of things like this.

That's the thing. Occasionally an update really borks an app whether it's due to the update itself or your version of Android currently running.

This is the reason I stopped updating. I did an update to an app and it caused some issues. I had to wait for the next update before it fixed it.

Generally, I don't update anything unless I have an issue and am hoping that an updated fixes it or there are some features that I like getting. Occasionally, I fire up my old phone and update the app there to see if I like the new update. If I do, then I update on my current phone. If an app is working the way that I like, I don't see any reason to change things because the risk of having features I like changed is too great.

I really hate it when an update takes a way or nerfs a feature I really like. The latest app I updated was TheScore mobile app. I liked the update, but it removed the feature that allows me to select a custom notification sound. I didn't realise it until it was too late.

Perhaps you should set up a poll on this topic.

I pretty much do mine this way also. Most are auto update and certain ones I do not put on auto update.

every other time i get a notification. only so i can hit the "update all" button and not have to click 3-4 times per update. if one of them's a permission change, i'll wait again.
