^^how many X users are about to move on to newer devices^^

My upgrade date was 2 weeks ago so am eligible for $30 off (woo-hoo). I wasn't going to, but came into a little cash ($2k, not the lottery) so if I'm going to do it, now would be right.

Looks like I missed out on the 4g $100 off. I believe that ended on 3/31?

The Nexus got a radio update that appears to have improved one of the shortcomings so I'm leaning toward it right now. My first phone was the Dinc, but the X came out w/in my 30 day return period so I opted for that, primarily b/c of the bigger screen. Does Verizon have a screen bigger than the Nexus? I'm thinking not.

While this is a good list, it is also indicative you are still living to overcome the deficiencies of the DX. The removable back cover is a particularly quant idea.

The current gen of dual cores are more than solid enough on performance to blow away a DX experience. And the current gen of blur in particular (but sense as well) run so smoothly you don't need custom roms for performance (seriously, the locked bootloader on the DX was largely a non issue). If you want a developer phone to play with, that's another story, but it isn't needed like on the DX. And the impendingrelease of ICS will make this even less an issue.

The real issue to track now is that battery life. 4G and big screens don't mean squat if you have to constantly recharge throughout the day.

If quad cores and the next gen 4G radios are as good on power savings as people think they will, then it may happen. Until then, the Maxx is hard to beat. I actually am contemplating using live wallpapers for the first time on an Android phone.

I'd still wait to find out more about the Droid Fighter. Rumor is that it should be on sale this month.

Too late, ordered all the accessories (case, extended battery) online last night and picked up the phone today. Got the same price as online. Now need to play. :D

Motorola radio would be nice.
Locked Motorola bootloader, not so much.

Still have 14 days for buyer's remorse to swap to a different device. :D

Did you get an upgrade discount? I became eligible for an upgrade on 3/15 and thought I still had one more $100 "new every two" discount under the old plan but the VZW sales rep said that I only qualify for a $30 "Loyalty" discount now. What a bunch of crap! They raise the price of their flagship phones by $100 while they reduce the upgrade discount by $70? Then they have the nerve to call it a "LOYALTY" discount???:mad:
 
Yup, and "new every two" goes away when you upgrade. Lots of other changes too, basically to make it easier when a family/group breaks up or primary acct holder leaves (or at least that's what I was told).
 
Well, I just bit the bullet as my DX was about to bite the dust (it had been chewing away for a while). The last straw was using Navigation on Saturday and right before the exit, it decided to reset itself. POS!!! Of course, I missed my turn and had to back track to get to my destination. After I got home, I went online and ordered the Maxx via Amazon. I had a $50 discount from VZW, plus another $50 through my work, but with the lovely tax laws in CA, I actually saved about $30 by getting it tax free from Amazon for $229. I then realized I had some eBay bucks kicking in on Tuesday, so free accessories for me. :D And for good measure, I redeemed some rewards points for $200 cash on my credit card.

Amazon got it to me on Monday (1 day early!!) and it's been freaking awesome. Smooth as silk! I'm in love all over again. Too bad the rumored ICS update wasn't true. :( See you all on the other side...it's been a great ride.
 
I was tempted by the Razr Max as my update is this month: April 18th, but I'm going to hold out and see what this "Fighter" is all about.
 
I'm enjoying my SGN. It's so fast I've underclocked it from 1200 mhz to 920 mhz. It flies when OC'd to 1350. The screen is very sharp, but you'll want the $25 extended battery from Verizon if you use your phone much. (4g plus the high resolution screen tax the stock battery.) There's a crap load of custom roms and they all have working cameras. :D
 
Been wanting to get the Nexus for a month now. But at this point, I feel like its an older phone now. I rather wait for the next generation of the 4g phones. Hopefully better battery life and stuff.... but that doesn't mean I don't look every day for a super good deal. Maybe if the white gnexus comes out then ill bite.

Think about this... do you want to install custom roms? It takes time for roms to mature and everything to work. The SGN already has ICS and LOTS of roms to choose from.

I'd say wait until summer if you can hold out, the next generation of top end phones will be out. I'm due in September, but being that a lot of the higher end phones seem to come out later in Q4 I'll be holding off until Novemberish(provided my X doesn't crap out on me).
 
Loved the DX for almost 2 years and wasn't planning on upgrading for a while, until I got an offer for a free upgrade to any 4g phone in Verizon's lineup. I asked the rep why I received that offer and he said I was clogging up the 3g network with data usage :-P. I've had the Razr Maxx about 3 weeks and, so far, I love it. I am anxious for ICS though and will probably flash the leak if it doesn't come reasonably soon.

I saw the $30 upgrade charge and decided it was time to upgrade my wife's stupid phone. If I had been smart, I would have updated to my Nexus last month when they had the $100 off 4g promo. Missed it by 4 days.
 
I'm seriously considering jumping to the Maxx next weekend (unless I can find something worth waiting for...I'm looking at you, Fighter).

Anyway I've decided to keep my X for awhile longer I overclocked / undervolted and it feels feels so crisp and fast not delays or hesitation anymore. It's amazing its like I have a new phone now.
 
Ive recenty became eligible for an upgrade, but i have decided not to stay with Android. i loved the Droid X for the first year and a half, but lately i cant stand it anymore. ready to move to iOS.

I just couldn't do it...I was using my friends I phone 4 yesterday at work and I couldn't see what the big deal was. There is no doubt that the iPhone paved the way for the smart phones...in 2007 the iPhone was beast and no other phone could compare...But now I think Android has a better OS, and with all the companies making phones for the android they have much better hardware.

Been with Verizon for over 6 years now. They keep lowering what they offer and charging me to stay(upgrade phone wiht new contract). As of now I will be switching to another carrier come Sept.

I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy SIII when I do switch unless something else is out then that is better and offered where I am going to.
 
OK, just bit the bullet and got the Razor Maxx a couple hours ago. I did it now because I can keep my unlimited data plan but move to the 4g LTE network speed, and the battery life on my DX has been fading big-time.

Loved the DX, but my GF has the regular Razor and I got to play with it for a while - love the speed, no lag, screen resolution, etc. etc. The DX will be my backup now...:rolleyes:

I want to keep my unlimited data, so I'm probably going to get the GS3. I don't really like that it's even bigger than my DX, but no other phone can compete with the power and the price. I'd have gone with the Razr Maxx, but it's currently $200 (same price as the GS3) for older technology. Since it seems like the GS3's battery will last the day most of the time, and the radios are supposedly ok, I don't see any other advantage other than build quality (which is important, but not the most important).

Where did you hear about the radios? That's my biggest concern with the SGS3. I'm definitely upgrading before the 28th and it will probably be the SGS3. I would have preferred the RAZR HD, but unless they start the pre-order for it in the next week or two, it's out of the running.
