Help How much battery do you think I've got left?

OK SilverDroid... if I guess, correctly, how long it is until your battery goes flat... what do I win?

A weekend with the nymphomaniac daughter of a rich brewery owner would get me posting a few guesses. :D

With email sync off, its totally different!! (compared to anything else ive tested) After 7hrs and 44mins im at 99%

Sounds about as expected, with sync off. I managed to get 14 days out of 1 charge. (with everything off except cell standby, using 70% of the battery ;) ) As a phone it works even better then the usual phones.

Yeh no offence but I'm going to need to see a pic proving it can last 14 days lol

I used it as a phone, not as a camera. :p It's my workphone and I'm in IT. The only time I'm away from a computer is when I'm on the road (driving) or sleeping, so I turned everything off, expecially the background sync. (heaviest consumer) I had approx 1 call per day on average. (so it was not even lightly used)

I could choose between this phone, 5 others or could buy one myself that should be able to do everything this one does. I'm not going to pay for stuff I'm not using so I choose the S2 ;) ) I guess I'm not the average user, so 14 days will not be your average batterylife.
Biggest tip is to kill the background sync and I switched to gprs only as I have no 3G reception at home. (saves lot of batterylife when the phone doesn't have to search for signal that isn't there)

So, sorry, no picture of the 14 days. This was approx 14 days ago, so the battery is probably dead tomorrow, so I can take a picture in 14 days. Got a hang of 7 days, beying ill and ignoring the phone completely for almost 2 weeks, so this time it only reports 8 days on battery. (32% charge left this morning)

Yesterday, I finished charging and unplugged the phone at 7.00am

Off wifi, Off Mobile Data package, around 10 sms, a few calls, no gaming, no auto sync, no surfing net.

At 7.00pm (after work) it is still around 80-90% (I did not see the % but from the small battery icon at top right, only the tip of the battery is down. The battery body is still full of juice. I guess, if we use it as a phone, it is ok.

By the way, I notice that by activating wifi, or playing wifi games, it will be hotter faster than usual. Eg:- Playing 30 mins angry bird, a little hot but can still managable but 30 mins of Zynga Poker (wifi) it is quite hot for my liking (my b@lls can feel the heat if I put it in my pocket)

Thus base on Physics, Energy generates Heat, I think wifi is one battery drainer. (If I m wrong, pls don't flame me, I failed my Physics....lol)

playing games will kill it way more than wifi.
try wifi on and no games, i think you will see a difference. :)

Hello Loony,

In this case, I am comparing the heat generated / felt

Playing Wifi Games eg Zynga Poker will be hotter than Playing Normal Games eg Angry Bird

Agree with you that playing games will drain battery than activating wifi alone.

Still running stock firmware, found my battery draining really quite quickly yesterday so I gave it a full charge from 0 last night for the first time in about three weeks and also turned off push email, which I don't need because I only go into my account to clear the junk out of it.

Currently on 10h 40m with 2h 52m screen on time, loads of 3g browsing and texting all day, still on 39%, Android OS usage has gone right down since yesterday. Delighted with it.

Will taking off background data help me even more (auto sync already off)? Will I actually lose anything if I do that too? Only data widget I use is LauncherPro+ Facebook but I can't decide whether to keep it or not because, while I love the look and feel, it's very hit and miss with regards updating itself and getting stuck on 'Loading'.

Currently I m making the Smartphone to be a Not So Smart Phone...generally, a phone, I off almost everything with wifi or 3G. I only activates them when required. Thus, Battery Issue and Heat Issue is not there.

So what is your requirements? Always Connected vs Battery Issue. Like you said on your Loading issue, I opine that it would be a waste of resources if it hanged....Anyway, hoping for new updates, OS or whatever so that we can have the best of both!

i just switched to 2.3.4 today (KG2). i flashed it from KF2, with 100% battery. then i rooted it n was messing around.. a lot. with sync on, auto brightness etc etc. a bit of gaming. fairly heavy use. started around 7 30am. battery was dead by 1 30pm. thats 6 hours. pretty low. even with heavy usage. i was expecting a lot from this android update. i'll give it another test tmr. the only difference i can see is my battery usage:
before - android OS was 50% and display less than 20%
after - android OS is around 17% and display 40-50%

The end.

If you're actually using the phone rather than having it sitting idle, display should always be your highest battery drain by some considerable distance.

It's definitely been turning off push emails that has made a massive difference to me. My battery graph had previously been showing a significant downward slope after about an hour of being unplugged and I couldn't figure out why until I realised my email was turning itself on at 9am. For anyone with battery issues, putting them onto manual should definitely be the first thing you do.

yeah i figured that. but even when using the phone a lot, a lot of people on 2.3.3 had a very high android OS usage. i was one of them. now i notice thats much less, so im hoping this is gonna improve my battery life. im currenlty at around 90% after almost 3 hours. with pretty much everything on. and fair usage. looking pretty good so far. i'd be very happy with 2 days of usage like this (with power saver at night, without charge)

and congrats, silverdroid. who knew the SGS2 was capable of this! lol. i hope i get close
