Root How much has rooting helped battery?

Hey guys,

Don't flame me for being a noob but the TB is my first droid device and I haven't actually had too much time to research what root is or how to do it but I was contemplating exchanging it for an Inc2 due to only getting about 6-8 hours (when I am away for at least 12 a day), which isn't going to work for me. How has rooting changed the battery life? (Let's try to compare just rooted to nonrooted on one battery rather than comparing nonrooted stock vs rooted extended for instance).

Rooting will definitely help, but you have a lot of research and work to do to achieve it. Rooting the TB, while easy, isn't as easy as some of the One Click Root methods that other devices have. You will need a good understand of adb and the common Android/root terms. I would suggest reading the [HOW TO] sticky thread that I linked in this post and deciding if it's something you're comfortable doing. If not I'd suggest exchanging it for something you think will give your better battery life.

Depends on the rom AOSP roms are much better with battery life. Sense roms seem about the same to me. If you choose to root use the manual method over at xda

I rooted and have tried most of the ginger roms out there and this one really is the fastest Rom out there and has awesome battery life. I went from charging 4 to 5 times a day (3G area) to lasting all day on a stock battery with the same usage. Its a great feeling to leave the battery pack at home and not worry about staying close to a charge source!! This Rom has the best support also, you will not be flamed if you ask questions which is a bonus when you are just starting out.
