How often do you even use 4G?

I just got my HTC EVO through radioshack trade-in deal for $99

I'm wondering how often I'll actually use 4G... living in Houston and Dallas really. 3G has always been good enough for me, so it seems like I may just be donating $10 to Sprint every month.

I'm sure this is a common question... my apologies for another repeat

So far I don't use it at all. Mainly because the only place I have it is my house, and I have much faster Wifi at my house. This weekend I might find it more useful during holiday travels, but I doubt they have 4G in the middle of nowhere. Don't get the wrong impression, I have nothing against 4G, I just don't have much use for it yet since it's not as available as 3G.

Dallas has good 4g coverage, but I usually don't turn it on for battery's sake! Perhaps the only time its on is when I need simultaneous voice and data!

3-4 hours a day..

Hour or so in the morning download pdf's to my phone. 2-3 hours of tethering my Laptop or Galaxy tab..

I don't use it too often for 2 reasons. 1 being that when 4g is available, it's been pretty hit or miss. When I have a good signal, it's definitely way faster than 3g. But When the signal is not so good, it's either slower than my 3g speeds or cuts in and out. 2. 4g does drain my battery and even sometimes makes my phone lag pretty bad. 90% of the time I'm either using wifi or 3g

I use it every day. I use when I need fast mobile connection while away from home. I leave it on at all times in NYC. It's great when used efficiently. Haven't had a need or chance to tether.

Now that it's up and running in both the SFBA and LA/OC areas, and especially with the "Scan for 4G" fix from that last update that removes the 100% CPU-wait issue, I use it all the time.

It's still pretty hit-or-miss on the Peninsula in the SFBayArea, so I rarely use it. Since the 3.70 update, I get disconnected frequently.

Where are you, JimDroid? I stay in hotels up here during the week in San Carlos/Redwood City and San Mateo; maybe it's 'cause both are right off the 101 but I've got at least 90% in each location and it's rock solid.

i use it at work now that i have 4G at work... my office wifi only gets me like 1Mbps , but the 4G in queens where I'm at gets me about 7-8Mbps down...

and since the new update no more lag, or any 4G related problems at all, its great...

ken, I'm in the Palo Alto area. I use it mainly when I'm out and about, as there is no 4G at my house (in the hills west of 280).

Before the 3.70 update, I would get the 4G slowdown of the whole fun, but it would always stay connected. Now, after 3.70, I get disconnected every 10 minutes or so, and get the notification icon that tells me that a 4G network might be available.

I was planning on waiting til the official launch date of 12/28 in the Bay Area before I investigate further.

I hardly use it. When Im at home or work I use the wifi network. Most of the time when Im not on Wifi 3G works just fine (getting directions, quick google searches). That being said, it does come in extremely useful when I do need the extra speed and Wifi is not available. Once I was in Boston and my boss had an emergency issue with her computer. I was able to use Logmein on the EVO to log into her computer over 4G and fix the issue. Using 3G would've been a huge pain but doable, but having 4G saved me a lot of time. I also use 4G when I have my phone charging and there is no wifi.

Battery life is the main reason I hardly use 4G.

I can't use it too much, the only place I have 4G at is at work and the connection is prey poor at ny desk, I get better 3G speeds. And when I'm at home around home its not even available. I'm hoping they get the 4G signal stronger at my work area

To be honest I have used 4G like probably 10 times in the four to five months of having the phone . Main reasons I dont use it is , coverage and it devours the battery . Coverage here in jax is spotty to say the least . I can get it at home by why bother I have high speed internet and wifi at home , at work building blocks most of the signal . As I have mentioned it drains the battery like no tomorrow . Plus with what I use my phone for mostly 3G is more than enough . Hell if sprint offered a option to block 4G from my phone and reduce my bill I probably would do so LOL

I have yet to experience 4G. Hopefully 4G will come to my area soon, but wifi is fast at home and while I'm out 3G has been fine.

i use 4G everyday! i get a FAIR signal in the building here with all of the equipment im around. i have it on the way home and it stops just shy of my home. i have seen the capacity at my place form nothing to a poor albeit usable 4G connection over the summer and im out in the burbs. 4G is really nice for me.

Nearly every single day. Sometimes just to speed up some downloads I do on my phone (a lot of root related stuff) and sometimes to tether my PS3 to it. I can play Call of Duty: Black Ops via my phone with no issues. I'd play via WiFi but the damn AT&T modem/router combo they gave us has about a 5 foot wireless range.

I didn't use 4G much initially as I suffered from 4G lag BADLY!!!

It pissed me off so much...

But now with update 3.7, my 4G lag seems to be gone, so I've been using 4G everyday. It REALLY helps with picture intense sites.

I have it always off because I have extremely weak 4G signals at my work and WiFi at home. Not to mention there's a 1 block circular radius of no 4G coverage at my house...good job Sprint.

I get a strong 4G signal at work but can also use wifi there so I use wifi as its faster.

At home, I can get a soso 4G signal in one spot near the window. My house is stone block so I have to be in one position and not move around. I mean even moving a couple feet loses it so I dont bother.

So bottom line is I rarely use 4G at all anywhere and its always off.

Only used it when I u/l or d/l large files such as songs, large apps or a bunch of pictures, and watching HQ/HD videos. 3G is good enough for everything else.

i live in South carolina and travel to california every now and then where they actually have it. have had it off since i bought the phone in summer. no use :p
