How often do you even use 4G?

SprintTV quality is much better on 4G so I use it when watching. I'm starting to see a trend that I use it most when I want to have uninterrupted data access (including navigation) and talk. It's less efficient than it would be with GSM technology, but GSM also isn't as fast or reliable where I live and travel given that the two providers don't have great coverage for me.

I'm wondering how often I'll actually use 4G... living in Houston and Dallas really. 3G has always been good enough for me, so it seems like I may just be donating $10 to Sprint every month.

10$ is to remove your 5gb data cap. not for 4g use, 4g phones have the potential to download much more then a 3g phone might. but you can still download a similair amount on 3g with these newer phones. that's how sprint justify's the cost.

I use 4g on and off through out the day when I hop on the web. I don't leave it on tho.

There isn't a data cap on phones.

The more data argument will be crushed by my daughter. She burned 400 megs in her first weekend with her new optimus. Bought my mom an evo and she has used 10 megs in the same amount of time. That oughta confuse Sprint.

I don't think you understand. Your daughter isn't crushing anything at 400megs.
the cap is 5gb, 400megs = .4gb

now not to turn this into a data cap discusson. but sprint has a cap on 3g, sort of. From what I have read/heard when you hit the cap they don't stop your service. but if you do it a few moths in a row they send you a letter or email about it.

the 10 dollar charge is to completely remove any cap. or so sprint says, not me.

That was in two days. What I said had more to do with two users (my daughter and her optimus vs. my mom with her evo) and how the higher end phone means nothing.

I just got my HTC EVO through radioshack trade-in deal for $99

I'm sure this is a common question... my apologies for another repeat
I use it whenever I go to NYC, the signal is strong out there. It usually never drops.
